CHANGING MATT

THE LIST

"Judaculla residence hall" I say, handing my form to a lady seated behind a desk at the reception hall. She's just about my age, with red eyes that make it quite obvious that she'd been crying. She ignores me, and lifts up an iPad that had been settled on her laps. She takes her sweet time to blow her nose, and wipe at the side of her eyes with a tissue. Finally, she meets my gave.
"This movie is so sad, don't you think?"
"What movie" I shift on one leg. For some reason her gaze makes me nervous.
"A walk to remember. I don't get why Jamie had to die, right? It could have been Belinder...or Cynthia"
"I've not watched the movie"
"Whatever"
"Judaculla residence hall' I say again, handing her my file
" I heard you the first time" she snaps "what's your name?"
"Jennifer Moore. You can call me Jenna"
"I wouldn't need to call you for any reason. I'm definitely not interested in making your acquaintance"
"Oh" she let's out a loud laugh, and her countenance brightens up.
"I'm just joking Jenn. You take things too seriously"
She scrolls through a computer in front of her, and minutes later she hands me a card and a key.
"Jenna Moore. Room 327. Your roomate's Flora. She's pretty rude and bitchy, beware". At this point, I realize I dont know much of the students at WCU. I really do feel like a freshman again.
" Hey Jennifer, here's your suitcase " I spin around on my hills, and catch sight of Matt rolling my suitcase in.
"Thanks a lot" I say, and I can almost feel how red my cheeks are from blushing so hard.
"Yeah. Sure" he says casually, heading right into our residence hall.
"What room is he?" I ask, before I can stop myself.
"The famous Matt Miller with the list? He's lodged at room 319. He's the only student with a room to himself" she replies casually, and with an amused expression.
"What list?"
"You haven't heard of the list?" I really did begin to feel like a freshman.
"No. I haven't"
"Well, the list is legendary, it's a list of-"
Her iPad rings, and she jumps with enthusiasm.
"I'm sorry I have to take this call" she gushes out "I'm Lauren by the way".
