Matt
"When you didn't show up with Josh and Mark, I thought the extent of Josh's stupidity had finally driven you to commit suicide" Jones joked, patting my back. He always did bring life to our little group of popular, badass dudes. He was the only one who seemed to have everything going for him, and the only one with an actual girlfriend.
"Matt had been busy" Mark says, not lifting his gaze off his phone. He seemed to have gotten yet another girl pregnant, and was giving her an extremely long speech about the damage that could be done to his reputation if she didn't 'flush it out',as he'd put it.
"Busy with what?" Ken asked, stepping right out of the inbuilt bathroom in my lodge. With the stench that followed closely behind him, anyone could tell what he'd done in there. Like me, he was a transfer student at WCU, and unlike me, he couldn't control his fucking ass.
"He's been busy with his new petty girlfriend" Mark replies, making a show of covering his nose with his palm. With that single sentence, all eyes turn on me. Most times, Mark never did seize to get on my nerves, he needed a fucking filter shoved right into his mouth and right down his throat.
"Jenna's not my girlfriend" I mutter, shoving Ken out of my way and shutting the bathroom door.
"C'mon Matt, no need to get all grumpy over a little crush. My kid brother could give you some relationship advice" ken says, and the rest of the boys burst into laughter. It's at times like this I regret having friends.
"Or Jones could help you out. He seems to have a whole lot of experience on babysitting girls"
"Dating isn't babysitting, Mark. It's a connection of hearts" Josh says, stretching out his massive structure on my bed. My room's been the meeting venue for my friends and I since the middle of sophomore year, mostly because I'm the only one at the entire school, that signed up to have the solo room system.
"What do you know about love?" Mark lashes out. He always has his aggressive tantrums when he's under some kind of tension. We've all gotten used to his immature attitude though.
"What does any of us know about love? It's a big 'ol mystery" Ken shrugs, adjusting the lapel of his coat and tilting his hat a little to the side. He's been a male model for years, and he definitely dresses according to magazine standards. The rest of us simply wear "bad boy" outfits that suit our standards.
"Well, maybe Matt can give us some heads up on what it feels like to be in love. After all, he clearly had his fair share of the feeling today with geek girl." Matt spat out, gulping down a glass of Scotch. I hated his choice of words in describing Jenna, but now wasn't the time to defend her. It would simply arouse unnecessary, and definitely uncalled suspicions. There was a tap on our door, so tiny I wasn't sure I heard it.
"I'm not in love with Jennifer Moore. Seriously dude, she's not my type." As the words spur out from my mouth, I can't help but hope they are true.
"I used to think I wasn't in love with Caroline, but I guess that feeling can't be ignored for too long." Jones says, smiling dreamily into the thin air. That's just creepy.
"I'm not you, Jones" I say, casually "I'm Matt Miller. I don't love, I fuck".
