"Once upon a time," Hajime began, " there lived a princess—"

"No!" One of the kids cut him off. "I don't wanna hear a shitty fairytale like that. What about something else? Something real and true?" They suggested, absentmindedly fiddling with their sweater. Hajime blinked in surprise when he heard the kid swear a bit, but it didn't mind him.

"A real story, huh?" He asked, a small chuckle escaping his lips. "Alright then."

Once, there was a little boy who was very lonely.

He was just like any other normal kid in the world. He lived a normal but blissful life, and he was content with everything he had. The little boy's parents loved him very much, and he had his loyal pet dog whom he loved to snuggle with.

However, all good things come to an end.

And it was when his parents left him that the boy discovered he had an evil curse cast upon him when he was still a baby. And what's worse, there was no way to get rid of it.

Something good would happen to him, only to be followed by a bad incident.

He lost many friends because of it.
He lost to despair because of it.
He never felt happy because of it.

His curse caused him to be different from the others, and that made him very sad.

However, he tried to see the good in everything, even when all that was around him was shrouded in darkness and utter despair at times.

One day, when the little boy grew up,
he met a robot.

They both wanted different things:

He wanted to lift his curse and be happy.
The robot wanted to live and feel alive.

However, in the end, what they both truly longed for is a place to be free.

And so, they ran away together to look for a place where they could be themselves.

A place where they could be happy.
A place where they could be free.

They faced many challenges along the way, but they had each other, and that was enough to overcome each and every obstacle they came across.

And then...

"And then?" A girl in glasses asked in anticipation. "What happened next to the robot and the guy?"

Hajime closed his eyes in thought before giving the little girl her answer. "The ending is up for you to decide, kids," he simply replied with a small laugh, much to the seated children's dissatisfaction when a few of them sighed loudly in exasperation.

"No fair, big bro Hajime!" A young boy with orange hair pouted.

"But I wanna know how it ends!" Another kid whined.

"Sorry guys," he shrugged apologetically. "But unlike most stories, this one is yet to be complete and never will. Just like how life is. Your life is a book forever in the works, so don't end it just yet." Hajime continued, unconsciously slipping in a small philosophy lesson.
