I also apologize for the short chapter this time. Normally, I try to aim for around 1K words per chapter, but I don't know what else to add for this one in particular to reach my usual minimum word limit. I will go back to writing 1K words as usual for the rest of my chapters, though!

But for now, have these 700+ words instead uwu

"Snow?"

The both of them headed out from the building inside. A bunch of the other children were seen chasing one another in the streets, small flecks of snow dancing in the sky like cherry petals in the spring wind.

Hajime looked up to see small white flakes fall from the sky. The snow glistened and shone under the streetlights.

Nagito looked up to the sky with an amazed smile. "Wow..." he sighed in astonishment, his eyes sparkling at the sight of the snow. "I haven't seen snow in a while," he said, admiring the small white flecks.

"It's been four years since it last snowed," Aoi placed her hands on their hips, joining the two of them in enjoying the snow. "Quite a sight, isn't it?" She laughed.

Four years?

Hajime felt something trigger in his mind.

Four years... Why does that sound so familiar? Hajime blinked as he felt a blurred memory play in his head like an old movie he had not watched for a long time.

"I've always loved the snow," said a frail voice that sounded like it belonged to an elderly woman.

"When I was still a young girl, I used to make snow angels and have snowball fights with my siblings. Then..." A wheezy cough followed. "Mama would then call us for dinner and make us warm rice balls to fend off the cold. What good times... It's a shame they're no longer with me anymore."

"I-I apologize for your loss, ma'am."

A wrinkled hand then placed itself on the faux skin of the android. The android's hand hesitated to hold it, afraid it might break its paper thin skin. But slowly, it held the old woman's hand in

"Don't forget, Hajime..."

Huh? Forget what?

"Humans don't live forever. We come and go like the seasons do."

—ajime?

"So when my time comes, don't be too saddened when it does. And, I hope you'll find another owner when it comes, Hajime."

Her eyes began to close.

"Don't forget, I'm with you in the dark..."

"Hajime!" The android snapped out his thoughts, returning back to reality. A concerned expression was displayed on Nagito's face.

"You okay? You zoned out a bit," he asked. "Wait, can androids even zone out?" Nagito mumbled to himself. Hajime stifled a laugh, and grabbed his hand gently. "No, I'm fine. Just thought I remembered something. It's nothing to worry about, though," he reassured the albino.

"Okay then. If you say so," Nagito nodded.

"Hey, Hajime?" Nagito gazed at the android.

"Thank you," the albino breathed, a puff of mist leaving his lips in the cold air. His hand found its way to the other's one, pale fingers intertwining with his.  "I never thought I'd live until now, but you've given me a reason to live."

"No, thank you," Hajime's gaze softened and he clutched the other male's hand.

"You made me feel what it's like to be alive. You made me realize that I was so much more than just a machine."

"So in return..." The android's face inched close to the albino's. Perhaps a bit too close.

God, our lips are close to touching... Nagito's heart raced, pounding hard against his chest.

"Let me be your hope."

Should I kiss him now? It seems like the perfect moment for it. Way too perfect.

Nagito was barely millimeters away from connecting lips with the android. He slowly closed his eyes and leaned further in. Just at the very moment he was about to close the gap between the other male, he was interrupted by the sudden shriek of a child.

"Oh my god! They're gonna kiss!" Kaito gasped, squishing his cheeks together in surprise. The other children 'aww'ed at them, continuing to tease the two of them.

Nagito's face turned bright red.

"H-Hey! I-It's not what you think it is!" He stammered and stepped back from the android, trying to defend himself, but the kids only kept teasing him with Kaito taking the lead.

"You guys make a great couple, y'know!" The purple head grinned playfully.

"S-Shut up! A kid like you shouldn't meddle with grown up stuff." Nagito huffed.

Hajime could only laugh as he watched Nagito have a one-to-one debate against the 10-year-old about whether he had a crush or not.
