Daph's POVDate and time: November 13 2025, 11:14pm (or 23:14 if you use a 24 hour clock)
I was just lying in bed, thinking about stuff. Stuff like how Alan just randomly disappeared today, and sent a message via our watches, saying something like, Imma start cookin din din in T-5 minutes! EvAcUaTe ThE kItChEn!
I fell asleep with that thought on my mind.
**Timeskip: it's now 3am**
I was woken up by some a$$hole who decided to ping me. At 3am. My immediate reaction (being half asleep and all): "I don't wanna go to school."
I sighed.
Who pinged me?
I checked, and it was Alan. I regret calling him an a$$hole 'cuz he's not. He's the greatest person ever.
Which reminded me of Malachi. I can't believe he had to die. He was awesome, until he was. 😔
Then I heard the other Walkers get pinged. They also woke up (if they weren't already up) and checked their watches.
"Who said they don't wanna go to school?" I heard someone say. The other Walkers laughed. I blushed. I think it was me.
I felt someone tap me on the head. I looked up. It was #28714.
"Hey, did you read the message from Alan?" She asked. I shook my head. "Read it!" She prompted me to read the message. It said: Hey Walkers! Meet me in the cafeteria... 🍕🍕🍕🎉🤫
Hmm, I thought. Today was my birthday.
I rolled out of bed and started walking up the stairs.
The one Walker was still shouting, "Who said they don't wanna go to school?"
"It was me, alright? I admit it," I sighed.
"Name and Walker ID please, I wanna make sure you're not a Kidz bop fan," the Walker shouted back.
I thought about that for a minute, and came to the conclusion that it's the Potato Bee.
"Daph, or Walker #33828," I answered.
Then I had a coughing fit, much worse than ever before.
It felt like my throat was closing in, and I was having a hard time breathing.
It's hard to breathe, but that's alright. (Guess the song this is from..?)
Then I felt someone wrap me in a hug. I looked up (I'm a short potato, lol) and noticed that it was Alan. I was so glad he was with me. "Go get your mask, okay?" Alan whispered to me.
I nodded, not able to breathe more than needed, and went back to the sleeping quarters. I found my backpack sitting on my bed, and looked around in it for my mask. I eventually found it and put it on. Then I walked back up the stairs to Alan.
Alan smiled at the sight of me, and I smiled back, even though he couldn't see the smile.
"You've been having a lot of coughing fits lately, you might wanna get your lungs checked out by the first aid Walkers again, just to make sure that you don't have a lung problem or something," Alan said in a concerned tone. I can tell that Alan is worried about me.
"Yeah, I probably should," I nodded in agreement.
After a couple minutes of silence between Alan and I, I heard someone shout, "PIZZA!!"
"Did someone say pizza?" I exclaimed. Alan nodded.
Alan and I went upstairs along with the rest of the Walkers, and the first thing I saw was what appeared to be thousands of pizzas, stacked to the ceiling.
"Happy birthday, Daph," Alan said, as he handed me a slice of pizza.
