Chapter 19

Alan's POV

I woke up at around 8:30 this morning. 🙁. #33828, or I guess I can call her by her name now, Daph, was sitting on her bed with her phone in hand, and she appeared to be taking selfies with her potato. I decided to let her be for a little. I sat up in my bed, and I didn't STALK her, I WATCHED her from afar.

While I was watching her and her potato, a thought sprung into my head. I wonder if Daph uses any social media platforms. I searched up Walker #33828 in Instagram. Nothing. Maybe tiktok? Nope. Snapchat? No.

So I decided to ask her. I don't know why I asked, I guess I was just curious. She's on quite a bit. She's a YouTuber, she's on Discord, Twitch, Xbox Live, Twitter, Reddit, Wattpad, Fandom, and Pinterest. All of the platforms I wasn't gonna check.

I decided to follow her on the social platforms and I checked out some of her posts and stuff. Daph is an amazing artist, you can tell, even when you look at her artwork from five or six years ago.  I hope she becomes a successful artist someday.

Each time I followed one of Daph's accounts, I heard her phone go off. Her notification sound was Sing Me To Sleep, so all I heard from her direction was, "Sing me - sing me - sing me - sing me to sleep now..." Honestly it was kinda funny.

"So, what should we do today?" I broke the silence.
"I don't know," Daph looked at me and shrugged. "There's not much to do down here,"
"Unless you're related to me," I smiled mischievously. "Want to see some secrets that I made around here?"
She nodded.
"Only me and you know about these, so keep 'em a secret, alright?" I smiled normally. Daph nodded again, and, for once, she actually remembered to put her mask on! She didn't even need me or Siri The Stalker to remind her!
"You remembered! Good job!" I said, with a small bit of sarcasm.
"I'm gonna try to make remembering a habit," she laughed. "Where are we going first?"

I smiled, and walked over to the bookshelf on the opposite side of the room and tugged on a book. I gestured for Daph to follow me. The bookshelf rotated 90 degrees, which let us get into the monstrous library behind it. She was amazed by the library. I had a feeling she loves to read.

After a while of Daph looking at the library, I asked her if she'd like to see the next secrets. Of course, she nodded in delight. We left the library, and I rotated the bookshelf back into place. I brought her to the main hall, to a bench to the right of the door to the sleeping quarters. I pushed the bench over, and stomped on the floor where the bench was. A piece of the floor came loose, and I put it aside. The gap revealed a cavern filled with water. Daph gave me a weird look.
"This is a good spot to go swimming," I explained.
"Oh okay, that makes sense," she said.
I put the loose piece of floor into the gap and pushed the bench on top. I showed her a couple other places, an art studio on a secret third floor, and a lounge underneath the potato statue in the main hall. Then we decided to chill in the library for a while.

Then I remembered that I had to go back out and fight in a couple short hours. I would have to leave Daph. I really didn't want to, but going out to fight was our only option if we wanted to survive.

Our only hope.

I walked over to Daph and sat next to her.
I reminded her, "I have to go and fight in a couple hours." She frowned. "But we've still got a couple hours, got any ideas?" I grinned immaturely, and her frown turned into a smile.

We decided to go swimming in the cavern for an hour or so.

Once we got out and dried ourselves off, we talked for a while... just about stuff. I found out just after I fell asleep last night after her friend called, she told her crush, Malachi, how she loves him by texting him. Very cute. After bringing up her crush, she started to cry a little. I gave her a hug, and after a couple minutes, she stopped crying. I can only imagine how awful it must be to be in love with someone but to never be able to tell them that in person.
