Chapter 35
Alan's POV
I have nothing to say but wow. Six years with Viivi, and she's finally gone crazy. Why would she ever think I would cheat on her?
Eh, well I guess I'm single again.
Here's where I made the worst mistake of my life: I threw my hands up in the air and shouted, "Hey Walkers! I'm SINGLE!!!"
They swarmed me, asking me if I want to date them.
Of course, I refused. The perfect person for me will come around someday. I thought potatocookie was perfect, but I guess not.
Okay, maybe there was ONE thing that I didn't tell Viivi... 😅
When there was the gas leak, and I was saving Daph, I... um... kissed the inside of my mask before putting it on her... not in a romantic way though, in a way that family would. I wouldn't cheat on Vii.
😅
Shh.
Keep this between you and I.
It's our little secret.
Don't even tell Daph, she'll probably have a fangirl attack again, and those fangirl attacks can't be good for you. No matter how much she says she's not, I know that she's a fangirl somewhere deep inside.
I think I should take a break from romance for a while. It'll do me some good.
Half a year ago, I was busy with making music, tours, and other stuff as well.
3 or 4 months ago, I was busy sending calls to my fans to tell them about our plans for the war, rowing a boat to Canada, setting up a basecamp, fleeing the basecamp, saving the life of a fan multiple times, becoming that fan's brother, fighting the SWAT team, getting Chris and K to fly us to Norway, dodging bullets, almost dying by getting shot by a bullet I didn't dodge, and surviving the solar storm.
In the past couple months, we were busy building a city.
Today, I was busy attempting to microwave thousands of pizzas.
These are all very stressful things.
I need to take some time to myself...
To just... relax.
Daph rested her head on my shoulder.
Or at least she tried to. There's a big height difference between us.
I honestly thought it was cute.
Not in a romantic way, of course. I'm ten years older than her.
I wrapped an arm around my sister.
I just remembered what time it was. It was almost 4 in the morning. I felt so bad for keeping everyone up at almost 4am.
Daph yawned.
"Tired?" I laughed. She nodded.
"Feel free to go back to bed if you want," I told her.
"Maybe once the pizza's all gone," she responded.
"Alright then," I smiled and pulled her a little bit closer to me (don't even THINK about romance, we're siblings).
**Timeskip: 15 minutes later**
Suddenly, Daph had another coughing fit, but a smaller, less severe one (tbh, it still scared me pretty bad).
"Oh my gosh, are you alright?" I asked.
"Yeah, I think I'm fine," she said.
"You should get your lungs checked out soon, I'm getting really worried. Your coughing fits are worsening and becoming more frequent," I turned to face her and looked her in the eyes, which were coincidentally a similar colour to my eyes.
Daph nodded. "How about noon today?" She asked me.
"Sure, you might wanna get some sleep though," I said honestly.
"Yeah, I think I'll go to bed now," she agreed, and went downstairs to the sleeping quarters.
A couple minutes later, I decided to go to bed as well. I told the Walkers that the pizza was gone, and they went back to bed too.
**Timeskip: 1 hour later**
I heard a coughing sound cut through my dreams. I opened my eyes and looked around. I saw Daph on the other side of the sleeping quarters, and (wow, what a shocker) she was having a coughing fit.
I slipped out of bed (luckily I was still in my clothes from the day before... 😅... phew) as quietly as I could, trying not to wake my bunkmate, Walker #23653, or any of the other sleeping Walkers, and I walked over to Daph's bed.
By the time I reached her bed, she was still having a coughing fit. I glanced around for her mask, but I didn't see it. Then I noticed she was holding her mask in her right hand. I took it from her and put it on her. I knelt down beside Daph's bed and held her hand. I stayed with her until eventually her coughing fit stopped.
Before I went back to my bed, I noticed that my sister's breathing pattern was peculiar. I memorized the fact that it wasn't a normal breathing pattern, because it'll be important to tell the first aid Walkers.
Then I just went back to bed. It's 5:15 in the morning.
**Timeskip to noon**
I woke up late again. OOF (I had to write that lol).
I looked around. Daph was still sleeping. I whispered in her ear, "wake up, sleepyhead!"
Bad idea.
She violently kicked the sheets off of her bed, and said, "I don't wanna go to school."
I laughed. "Don't worry, you're not going to school, it's a... umm..." I turned on my phone. "Hey Siri, what's the date?" I asked my Siri.
"Good afternoon, Alan. It's Wednesday, January 8th, 2025," Siri replied cheerfully.
"No it's not," I muttered and searched it up on Google instead.
"Google says it's a Friday, and since you're 18, you don't go to school anymore," I told Daph. "Now get up, it's noon," I laughed.
She rolled out of bed onto the floor. "Isn't that a great start to the day, rolling onto the floor," she said sarcastically.
"Okay, you're awake. Good. We have some important stuff to do today," I reminded her.
