Chapter 15

Alan's POV:

Our basecamp was destroyed. But at least we have our underground base, still intact. I was protecting myself with this cool... thing... I took from Area 51 when the Walkers and I raided it. It was like a glowing orb of protection that formed around me or something. The bullets from the guns of the SWAT team bounced harmlessly off the sphere.

Then I got a video call from an unknown number. The caller ID said Walker 33828 video calling from Siri, so I answered.
"Hey-oh my god." I saw #33828, on the ground, and her forehead was bleeding.
"Stay with us, #33828. You're safe. I will be there in a second," I said, slightly panicked. I glanced around at where #33828 was. Based on her surroundings, I assumed she was in the medical room.

I ran up to Viivi. "I have to go. It's an emergency," I looked her in the eyes.
"Okay, go, Alan!" Viivi nodded.

I went to where the vault door under the fake grass was. I lifted the grass, and placed my finger on the white box. The door opened, and I started to climb down the ladder. I flipped the false grass back over the door, and clambered down the ladder as fast as I could.

Once I finally got down to the base, I ran as fast as I could (without running into the wall, the walls are made of an indestructible metal) to the main hall. I ran up the stairs in the sleeping quarters, and through the cafeteria to the medical room and I opened the door to see #33828 on the floor, bleeding badly. I picked her up, and took off her mask so it wouldn't get soaked in blood. Then I ran over to a first aid Walker I saw.

"Help, please. I don't know what to do anymore," I pleaded.

The Walker took her and rushed her over to a small room in the corner.

A couple minutes later, another first aid Walker came out to me. "I don't know if she'll make it. The only way she will live is if someone donates some of their blood, now..." The first aid Walker frowned.

"I'll do it," I said and smiled proudly.

"Okay then," the Walker said.

I forget what happened after that, I think the first aid Walkers needed a lot of my blood.

Now, me and #33828 are related by blood. Huh. I didn't see that coming.

But I woke up in a hospital bed. That's disappointing.

Then I remembered how I gave some of my blood to #33828 to save her.

"Hello? Is anyone here?" I asked, hoping a first aid Walker was around.
A first aid Walker did come up to me. "Alan? Oh good, you're awake!" She said. "Do you remember when you donated some of your blood to save the other Walker?"

It took me a while to remember. I nodded slowly when I did.

"Well, we needed a bit more than we thought we needed, but you are alive and #33828 is alive," she said.

"Can I go see her?" I asked excitedly.

"Sure... but..." The first aid Walker said nervously.

I looked down at myself. Oh wow. I forgot. I just donated blood.
"Oh yeah," I sighed.

15 minutes later...

I just got out of the hospital bed, and now I'm off to go see #33828.
"Wait, where is #33828?" I asked a first aid Walker that happened to be nearby.
"Go straight until you see the exit door, then turn around and go right. You'll recognize her," the Walker said.

I followed the directions and found a row of beds, curtains separating each one from the others.  After walking past most of the beds, I saw #33828. She looked pretty tired, but I sat down in the chair by her bed anyway. She wasn't bleeding like she was earlier. A good sign.

A first aid Walker passed us and noticed me sitting with #33828.
"Oh, hey Alan! Just to let you know, she has a pretty bad concussion. She'll still be a patient for two weeks, for both her concussion and her lungs, but she won't have to stay here, as we decided a couple days ago. But once she wakes up, I want you to stay with her for 2 days to make sure she doesn't, y'know, kill herself by running into a wall or something. She's got a pretty severe concussion," the Walker said.

"Okay, I can do that," I said.

I heard the shuffle of someone tossing and turning in their sleep. I looked over, and I noticed #33828 was waking up. Her eyes opened slightly.

"#33828?" I said hopefully.

"Is that you, Alan?" She asked.

"Yeah, it's me. And I have something to tell you," I smiled. "Oh yeah, and here's your mask..." I set her mask on the bedside table.

"Thanks, Siri reminded me to wear it... that creepy stalker..." She mumbled.
"What did you want to tell me?" #33828 asked.

I scratched the back of my neck nervously. "Well, the only reason you are still alive is because... most likely, Siri must've... umm... found my phone number and video called me from your phone... and so I came down here and found you on the floor bleeding... and the first aid Walkers said they needed someone to donate blood to save you, so I donated my blood to save you... so now we are technically family by blood... and... umm... yeah..."
