Daph/#33828/my POV

The Walkers came running over to see what I've just discovered - the base that'll save us all. I found the white box with the blue circle on it on the vault door, and put my right-hand ring finger on the circle. The door lit up a green, similar to the colour of the northern lights overhead, and opened for me.

It took a lot longer to get down to this base than it did our last base. But it's a lot bigger on the inside. It has the same layout as the old base, (it even has the same potato statue, !(^o^)! ) but all of the rooms are bigger.

Walkers started to pour in from behind me. The first four were Fio, K and Mello, who were carrying Alan.

"I'll take him from here," I told them, and took Alan in my arms, who was actually really light. K, Fio and Mello followed me as I ran to where I assumed was the medical room, based on the memory of the old base. Luckily, it was the exact same layout as the base in Cape Breton Island.

I set Alan down on a bed and asked Fio to go get a first aid Walker or something.

While Fio was getting a first aid Walker, I looked at Alan. His jeans were ripped, and his left side was bleeding horribly. The SWAT team's bullet left a hole in his hoodie as well. All of his clothes were stained with blood. He might've just died. If he did, then he died a hero. He risked his life for us.

Then, I looked down at myself. I was also in bad shape. My once white hoodie that indicated that I was a patient was now red, from blood. My clothes were ripped and I had bruises and scars all over my body. I went through a lot, compared to my friends back home: Sarah, Addie, Sasha, Danese, Aaron, Ava, Hannah.

Which reminded me of Malachi. He's gonna die in only about 30 hours. All of my family and friends back home will die. I felt a tear roll down my cheek.

All of a sudden, I had a random coughing fit that lasted a couple of minutes. Mello and K noticed.

"You good, bruh?" Mello asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said.

K walked over to my side. He glanced at me for a minute.

"Oh... I see..." K nodded wisely. "You aren't wearing your mask, are you?"

"Alan told you about me, didn't he?" I sighed and unclipped my mask from the keyring on the side of my backpack. I put on the mask. Why do I have such a hard time remembering to wear my mask?

Mello walked over to K and I. "Yeah, he told both of us."

"He said it was only because he wanted you to be safe," K said. "Alan told us he was gonna explain the full story, but he never got the chance... care to explain?"

"Alright," I nodded. "Well, Alan was giving us a tour of the base, and while he was giving us the tour, this green gas started to leak into the room. The other Walkers ran from the gas, but I couldn't keep up. I fell behind, and I would've died, but Alan risked his life and ran back into the gas cloud and saved me. Alan told me that the gas damaged my lungs severely, and told me to wear his mask everywhere I go, because my lungs wouldn't be able to handle that kind of thing again. That he just wanted me to be safe. A couple days later, I went for a walk, and something happened, I forgot what happened, but Alan said I lost a lot of blood. He said he donated some of his blood to save me, so we are technically related by blood. Alan considers me his little sister, because I kinda am now."

"Wow, that explains a lot," Mello said.

Then, Fiona and a first aid Walker came into the room.

"Oh god," the first aid Walker said in shock when he saw Alan. "Could you four... please... leave for a second?"

"Yeah," I said, and K, Fio, Mello and I left the room.

A half-hour later, the first aid Walker came out. "We're gonna need a blood donation to save Alan..." He said.

"I'll do it," I said, standing up.

Fio turned to me and stood in front of me.

"But, you have to be 18, and you're only 17... It's the law..." Fio said.

"Well, screw the law! The law's trying to kill us!" I said, crossing my arms.

"Fine then." Fio stepped out of my way.

That's all I remember. Then I woke up in the medical room, to someone tapping me on the shoulder. I opened my eyes to see Alan standing in front of me. I can't believe it, he's alive! He smiled and whispered, "Hey, thanks for saving me."
