"How about you just untie me and I'll be on my merry little way, M'lady?"

You let out a breathy chuckle, "I don't think so, Varian. There is a heavy bounty on your head, ya know? Endless amount of riches for anyone who so much as catches the, oh so powerful alchemist who kidnapped the queen of Corona."

"So, this is what you're going to get out of this? Endless amounts of riches?" That smirk still prominent on his face.

Arching an eye brow, you answered, "Well yeah? The royals down there in Corana want your head. They said to look out for a boy with freckles, dark black hair, blue eyes, and a streak of blue in his hair." As you talked about his highlight, you went closer to him. Touching it between your fingers and twisting it gently.

You looked down at him, smirking, "Your wanted poster plastered everywhere I went, said you'd be dangerous, devious, and heartless. But you know something?" You crept closer to him, your face only centimeters from him. You stared those ocean blue eyes down. "You don't look like it to me." Soon, walking a few feet from him to get distance between you two.

Varian let out a laugh, "You don't know what I'm capable of."

"Oh?" You're curiosity was peaked. They said that he was malicious, it only took you about a few days to get him. Which would be saying something, most your bounties only took a few hours. But as you stare at the boy in front of you, he seemed harmless. Cute, even. You wouldn't let that stop you from turning him in though. Money was money, and you wouldn't let that opportunity slide for someone who was easy on the eyes.

You face him, only inches between you two. "What exactly are you capable of, Varian?" Venom spitting out of your mouth, as you pronounce his name, almost like you're mocking him. You watch him carefully as he shifts in his seat.

You see his eyes and expression darken. "I recreated an army of dead automotive machines, tricked the princess, turned my raccoon into a giant monster to attack the royal family, and almost killed about a thousands of guards."

Turning to him, you widen your eyes. "Wait, what was that?"

Varian smirks, amused by your expression. "What? That I recreated an army of dead machines?"

"No, the part about your raccoon-" the lights turn off. "Shit."

You hear rustling from Varian direction. "Oh fuck." You walk around in the dark, trying not to trip over stuff. You hear a chuckle coming from the dark. Moving towards the sound, you see a pink ball of light. It's thrown at your feet, suddenly you can't move them.

Tugging on your legs, as you desperately try to remove your feet in whatever they're stuck in.

The lights turn on, you see a raccoon perched on top of Varian's shoulders. You send a glare towards the animal. Varian laughs, rubbing the raccoon's chin. The animal appreciates the petting, as it rubs its head towards Varian's hand.

"His names Rudiger," Varian says. "All I had to do was distract you enough for this little guy to turn off the light." He sends you a teasing smile. "You should really pay more attention," he says fake pouting.

You scoff, "That's just cheating! At least, get me out of here!"

Varian shakes his head, "No can do, M'lady. I have a few questions, that need answering. Like, who exactly hired you. No bounty hunter is just going to pop up randomly and go after some rando on a flier. On another note, Corona's royals are more focused on their presentation towards other kingdoms. It's highly unlikely that they would throw fliers around saying they lost a prisoner. A boy younger than Queen Rapunzel, no less! It would tarnish their reputation."

"Huh, you're smarter than you look. I'll give you that. But, if you must know, the queen herself requested me. She seemed really scared, your escape must've shook her up." You answer him.

Varian shrugs, smirking. "Yeah, must have. Anyways, next question. How much did she offer you?"

Confusion made it's way to your face. Tilting your head and scrunching your eyebrows, you question, "Why? It's not like I'm still getting paid."

You see him rub his neck. Rudiger nudged him on the ankle with his head. "Well, I kinda feel bad." He trails off.

"Why?" You asked bluntly.

"You probably needed the money or something. And I may have almost killed the royal family, but I'm not heartless," he turns his gaze to the ground. Looking up at you, when he hears you laugh.

"I'm sorry? You feel bad? That's the first," you flash him a smile. "You're different, Varian. I like that." His willingness to pay whatever amount the Queen was going to, was cute. You'd have to admit Varian was sweet, sweeter than any guy you've met before.

He nervously chuckles with you, returning the smile.

"But, it's about 25 thousand. In gold."

"Shit, that's a lot," Varian says. A light blush showing on his face.

You shrug, "Yeah, but it's not worth much now. You actually seem cool, I would even say, nice."

"Thanks," he looks down at your feet. "Oh damn! I should-," he pauses, looking back at you. "Are you gonna try to attack me again and then turn me in?"

You shake your head no, holding out your pinky. "I pinky promise, Varian. I may hunt people down for a living, but I can guarantee that I, (Y/N) (L/N), will not break a pinky promise."

Varian chuckles, he then goes through his satchel. He find a green vile, pouring it on the substance sticking your feet. The pink goo dissolved.

"Hey, now that we're cool. Do you want to get ice cream?" You ask, brushing off some dirt on your pants.

"Yes! Can we get ham sandwiches on the way?"

"Sure."
