[Author's Note: this is a halloween special, baby]

"What's the point of this?"

"Cassandra, the point is to have fun. Plus, you're doing it wrong. You're going to cut the pumpkin in half."

She had her sword out, slashing widely at the pumpkin on the table.

"Tah-dah! All done!" Eugene and Rapunzel both worked on the same pumpkin. The carving having a heart.

You smile at them, "Cute. But one problem, you need to carve out the inside of the pumpkin. How else would you put a candle in it?"

Eugene scratches his head, "We were supposed to carve it out?"

The door opens, Varian covered in fake cobwebs and box of Halloween decorations in hand. "These are so old, that I'm not sure if half of these webs are fake or not."

Chuckling, you wipe off the cobwebs from his hair. Kissing his cheek, "Thanks for getting these, Varian."

"Not a problem at all, m'lady," Varian replies.

A squeak was heard from Rudiger. "No, be quiet. She doesn't have to know about the spiders!" He says in a hushed voice.

You just smile. Looking back at the three carving pumpkins, "Cassandra! No! Don't do that!"

Being the castle's head staff member. You were to plan and decorate, the castle for any occasion. This holiday being Halloween.

It didn't help, that Cassandra didn't know how to carve a pumpkin at all.

Varian, on the other hand, has been a big help. With his inventions and chemicals, he cleaned and decorated a room in 10 seconds flat.

"Are you sure about this invention? Like, all of them have worked so far, it's just..." you trail off.

"What could go wrong?" Varian asks.

A cannon. It was Varian's invention, a simpler way to decorating the room. He said, that a pull of the string and the decor would be all set.

You were a bit skeptical. How could you not? It's a big cannon, which was going to blow. In a room, which had a big chandelier.

Oh, so many things could go wrong here.

The cannon ended up getting shot. Banners and confetti being thrown everywhere. Your eyes being kept on the chandelier. It shook, but nothing more.

You sighed, "Thank god. It's all decorated, but you bring a cannon inside again, I'm going to blow my top off."

"Don't worry. Never again, this cannon's only a one time use," Varian pats the machine, chuckling.

Rolling your eyes, you lean in to kiss him. A cough heard, "We still need to decorate the garden."

"Yeah, yeah, I know. Don't got to be such a buzzkill, Cassandra," Varian sticks his tongue out at her.

She only scoffs, walking away.

Decorating the gardens was harder to do, than say.

"No, Cassandra, you can not work on carving the pumpkins. You just cut them in half."

"Eugene, if you get tangled one more time in the webs. I won't hesitate to put you in a corner."

"Please don't do that, Rapunzel. The streamers aren't vines."

A sigh comes out of you. Hands rubbing at your temples. You feel arms wrapped around your waist, a chin resting at your shoulder.

"Hey, Varian."

He kisses your cheek, "Hi, (Y/N). You seemed stressed, take a break."

You turn to see him, arms falling to his neck. "I wish I could. This party needs to be done by tonight. I can't even set up the gardens. Nevertheless, the castle at this rate."

Varian gives you a hug, "Nah, don't sweat it. I've got it."

Raising an eyebrow at him, you ask, "Are you sure? It's kind of you to do this, but it's a lot of work. I wouldn't want you to-"

As you talk Varian pushes you out of the gardens. Inside the castle, walking you to your room. "I have it all under control. Promise."

"I guess. I am feeling sleepy," you yawn. Hands going up and stretching, as Varian puts you down to bed.

He chuckles, tucking you in. "See, I told you. When, you wake up, the whole castle will be ready. Just meet me in the throne room. Okay?"

Eyes closing, you mutter out a, "Okay."

You feel Varian's smile on your forehead, when he kisses you. "I love you."

"Love you, too."

The door shuts. Leaving, Varian to think. 'How in the world am I supposed to decorate the castle in less than a few hours?'

***
You woke up from Ruddiger. The little raccoon jumping into your lap, nuzzling his head on your cheek.

"Hey, buddy," you say petting the small animal. Ruddiger makes a noise in response.

Looking out the window you see how dim it's gotten. Were you asleep for that long? Stretching, you make your way outside. You then remember Varian telling you to go to the throne room.

Opening the door, to a dimly lit and decorated hallway, was a surprise. Varian must have worked hard to decorate the whole castle.

Ruddiger makes a loud squeal, pushing against your heel. Chuckling, you kneel down to pet him. "Alright, alright. I'm moving."

Walking down the hallways, you see that every single one was decorated. They sure didn't miss a spot.

Once, you make it to the throne room, you see Varian. He turns around to the noise of the doors opening.

Varian was dressed up in a cute wizard outfit. Tilting hat, glowing staff, starry robe, and all.

"(Y/N)! Hey! How was your nap?" He embraces you quickly, leaving a small peck on your lips.

A smile spread through your face, "Varian?"

He tilts his head, giving you a confused smile, "Yeah?" He was so adorable. It remind you of a cute puppy.

"Did you do all of this for me?" You put your hand on his cheeks. Squeezing his cheeks together.

Not swatting your hands away, "Well, yeah? Who else would this be for?"

You roll your eyes playfully, "God, you are so sweet. Did you know that?"

Varian just wraps his hands around you, "I know. But, you could say it again. I don't think the people in the back, heard you."

Snorting out a laugh, you place kisses all over his face. "Stop." A kiss on his nose, "Being," one on his cheek. "Adorable," the last one on his lips.

You pull away from each other. Gazing into Varian's ocean blue eyes. Eyebrows scrunching up, when you focus on something behind him.

"Cassandra! Oh my god, not the pumpkins!"
