Thea's POV
It's been 2 days ever since Louis started to ignore me. He never answered my messages nor my calls and i'm starting to worry. I have to work just a few more days so that I could finally retire from my work.
I dress up in a white long sleeves and a plain black skirt that's an inch long before my knees. I comb my hair and decided to be simple and just tied my hair today.
I retrieve my car keys from the counter leaving a note to my mom if ever she goes home that i've already gone to work.
The engine of my car roars to life and I start to drive but a black garbage bag was on the middle of the road causing me to step on the breaks quickly. What was it doing in the middle of the road? Beside the garbage bag a small device that brightened up and it looked like a phone.
I decide to step out of my car to get the phone to check who owns it. Before I kneel down to pick up the item up, I hear movements somewhere behind me.
"Who's there?" I ask, hoping it was just someone I know.
I quickly snatched the phone and ran back inside my car. I avoided running over the garbage bag and went straight to work.
I parked in front of the small cafe and texted Louis if he's was okay.
It seemed weird how there is only one customer today and from here I couldn't really tell if Cody's here too. The phone I found was placed on the passenger's seat and I retrieved it to check the phone for the owner's information.
I went straight to the photos because it might give me a clue. I scrolled the pictures and find a girl with black hair with light brown highlights with her friends at a bar.
It was 5 minutes until my shift so I placed the phone I found back to the passenger's seat and went out my car. I'll just check on it later after my shift.
I carried my bag over my shoulder and went in the cafe. There is only one man near the window and a probably 10 year old boy and a little girl sitting beside each other at a different table. I could see them even though their backs faced me and it was adorable how they were eating a slice of strawberry cake.
I looked at the counter to meet a pair of brown eyes I've feared.
Cody.
"Hi." I managed to greet.
"Hey Thea." He smiles and placed the money back into the cash register.
"How are you?" He asks not breaking eye contact with me.
"I'm doing good." I nod and smile.
"That's great." He smiles warmly then finally stares into the darkness outside the shop.
I place my things at the staff's room and went inside the kitchen. Raul was there as usual baking and cooking as always.
"Therese why are you here you should be outside." Raul says with his thick accent.
"We don't have customers tonight." I frown. "Maybe I could help here?" I'd rather do something else than be near Cody.
"Right. Fine. Could you maybe mix the batter?"
"Sure." I made my way to the baking station and started mixing the batter.
Raul has worked here for years while I had just started here recently. I think he's around 23 or 25. He may be strict but he is really kind and caring towards everyone. We haven't really talked much since he never left the kitchen, he's pretty serious with his job.
"Oh Therese." Raul calls, while he was molding the cookies.
"Yeah?" I stare at his back, because he was still doing his work.
"A boy left some flowers for you."
"Really?" I hope Louis is back.
"Yeah. You got yourself a nice blonde boyfriend aye?" He smiles.
Blonde?
"Blonde?" I furrow my brows.
"Yeah, blonde hair, gray sweatshirt, baggy pants, sneakers?" He described.
"My boyfriend's the total opposite of what you describe." I say slowly. "Are you sure those are for me?"
Who would even leave me flowers.
"Yeah it says, for Thea."
"Did you get the guy's name?"
"Yeah it's-" he finally turned around to face me yet he was cut off by a loud alarm. I turn around to see the stove on fire.
"Therese! Get everyone out of here and call for help!" Raul shouts.
Oh damn, I remember there are kids in here.
I ran outside to see the little girl crying and the 10 year old boy was having a hard time carrying his little sister. I carried the little girl in one arm while my free hand was holding the boy's hand. I was able to take them outside and the man was nowhere to be found and so is Cody.
I pulled out my phone and dialed the emergency hotline for help. They'll be here in 10 minutes.
Sadly, 10 minutes was too long.
It was too late.
We've hear a loud explosion inside.
