"Get changed now, we're going to the office." Bård ordered Reve as he rushed his way upstairs. His voice was expectedly cold.
Reve stared at Bård as he was making his way up. I just made everything worse, she thought. She was still dripping wet, and the thought of Bård getting angry at her once again, made her feel down. She walked silently towards her room and closed the door. She stripped and made her tails appear. Five white tails came into view.
"Five." she said. She doesn't know much about human emotions but she knew that she's not happy of what just happened.
"Why am I not happy?" she asked herself. She doesn't understand why and it made her feel sadder. Shivers ran through her spine and goosebumps started to creep all over her body. She ran her palms through her arms. It's a new sensation. She opened her closet and looked for something warm to wear, in her case, it's a shirt, a cardigan and jeans. It's not warm enough but that was the warmest clothing she has because she didn't felt cold ever before.
"Reve, let's go. We're late." Bård yelled from his room. Reve moved out from hers and went to the dining area.
"Okay, I'm ready." She said in an unexpectedly weaker voice compared to her normal joyful voice.
Bård walked downstairs and didn't even bothered to look at her. He moved outside, waited for Reve to move out as well, and locked the door. They went inside the car and went their way to TVNorge's office without even saying a single word to each other.
Bård looked at his watch. They're late for the rehearsal. Everyone from the office must be calling him by now if his phone didn't went its way down the river. He sighed at the thought. Reve, on the other hand, stayed silent at the backseat. In normal days, not like this, she used to be very loud that Bård would turn on the volume of the radio to the maximum level just to block everything Reve is saying. But today it's different. Whether it's because of Bård not noticing the silence because he was thinking of his phone or because Reve was sad that Bård's angry again and that she forgot to be loud, they don't know because they were all too submerged in their own thoughts.
After a few moments, they reached TVNorge's building and went inside. Bård was right, they're late and they even started rehearsing without him. Everyone stared at him when they arrived. He looked at Vegard but Vegard was avoiding his stare. He's still angry at him, Bård thought.
No matter how awkward it was, he still joined the rehearsal until it ended. They're now having their break and he's in his office sitting alone.
"Why are you not answering your phone?" Vegard said as he just popped inside Bård's office. The sudden entrance of his brother, and the fact that it was his brother who entered the room startled him.
"I lost it." He answered casually, trying to hide the panic in his voice.
"Really?" Vegard asked suspiciously.
"You can ask Reve if you don't believe me." Bård answered coldly. He stood up from his chair and moved towards the door. Vegard grabbed his left arm making him stop. He gave him the lyric sheet that Calle gave him last night. Bård held it and just stared at it.
"Let's talk." Vegard said.
"About what?" Bård replied coldly.
"About that." Vegard said reffering to the lyric sheet Bård is holding in his hand.
"It's good." He said without really meaning it.
"I mean, about what you wrote on that sheet." Vegad cleared.
Bård looked at his brother's eyes. It's been a while since he stared at his brother's brown eyes. They felt so warm and comforting. He missed that. He missed his brother a lot.
I'm trying my best. I'm sorry.
Bård scribbled on the lyric sheet.
Vegard hugged his brother tightly.
"I'm sorry for not seeing that. I should've understood your situation rather than turning my back against you." Vegard said over Bård's shoulder.
"It's okay. Everyone grows tired of other people's sadness." Bård said over Vegard's shoulder. They broke off and Vegard put his right hand over Bård's left shoulder.
"And I'm your brother. I shouldn't get tired of things like that." Vegard said. He never thought that he missed Bård's presence so much.
Bård gave him a tight smile. He can't imagine how devastated will Vegard be if he dies. It will always be like this. Him, doing shit, and Vegard, understanding him. It's never give and take. It's always give for Vegard and take for Bård. Until the end, it would still be like that.
"I'm sorry." Bård said. And he meant that for all the stupid things that he have done.
"It's okay." Vegard replied.
No, it's not okay. Bård said at the back of his mind.
Bård and Vegard loved each other but they are not so comfortable in expressing it, just like what other people with brothers do. They'd rather punch each other than say I love you or I'm sorry. It felt so awkward, so to break the awkwardness, Vegard moved to the couch and sat there leaving Bård standing.
"So, what happened exactly with your phone?" Vegard asked.
Bård inhaled and then exhaled heavily. He went to his chair at sat down.
"I really lost it. No kidding. I must've dropped it or something." Bård explained. He couldn't just say that he dropped it in the river at the forest. Vegard will ask him a lot of questions.
"Okay. I thought you were avoiding my calls again." Vegard said.
"Bård, you've seen Ve... Oh." Calle stopped and smiled at their sight.
"Don't even dare say something cheesy." Vegard warned Calle.
"Come here you two!" Calle said and dashed to hug Vegard then Bård. Vegard hugged him back while Bård pushed Calle away half-heartedly.
"Hey, stop it." Bård said annoyed or... half annoyed. He's happy as well that their gang is okay again.
"This calls for a drink! Well, after the taping at least. They're calling us to get ready." Calle said.
They stood up and went together to the studio to tape. It was a usual site of them but not for too long now. Bård couldn't stop but to think of the future. One day they'll be going to the studio without him. He wondered if they'd be continuing I Kveld Med Ylvis when he's dead.
The taping started, the audience are great and they're having great feedback. After showing the La Det På Is Music Video, the three of them stood up to sum the show.
The band started playing and Bård is saying his lines to the camera.
"We're getting close to the end, and for those of you, who for some idiotic reason hasn't been watching until now, we're going to sum up the program. We didn't know what happened until now, so we'll have to improvise a bit, but that's fine. And Vegard, you'll start the song by singing about Sigrid Bonde Tusvik." Bård said looking at his brother. Vegard found it hard to start the song but with just a few seconds, he formulated something and then he started to sing. While waiting for Vegard to finish, something caught Bård's peripheral vision that made him turn slightly away from the camera. It was the sight of Reve bumping into a camera crew or was it the other way around, he's not sure. There was a small commotion but the audience didn't noticed so, the show went on.
"Okay and then we'll do guest number 2, here you go!" Bård said looking at Calle. Calle then started singing. After Calle's turn it was then Bård's. He started singing about their MV.
"And then we did something fun because we showed you what life really is, when you're supposed to make skits...REVE!" Bård yelled and was cut from his song.
