Complete silence and stillness devoured Bård's house. It's been like that since Reve was gone. Will she come back or was she gone forever? He often asked and everytime he asks himself the same question, he couldn't stop but to feel afraid. Afraid of the great possibility that Reve didn't survived being away from her bead. And there's this weird feeling. Apart from being worried of her, he's feeling something he couldn't name. He can't pinpoint it but there's something inside him that doesn't felt right. It's like it happened before. He felt this before. Then flashes of Alija's memories came to him. The feeling, it was like when Alija left him, but not really. He felt empty, angry, worried, and confused and the mixture of these emotions is never pleasant. It's not completely similar but somehow, he felt that he lost someone important and there's just nothing to make everything feel right again other than to have that someone back.
"You're guilty." he thought.
"Why did you say those words to her? Of course she got hurt." he continued to blame himself.
He stood up from his bed and called the police again.
"Hello, this is Bård Ylvis..." Bård was cut by the police on th other line.
"I told you Mr. Ylvisåker, we'll just call you if we find her. You don't need to call every hour. We are going to call you, okay. We're doing our best here." The irritated voice of the police officer resonated.
"I'm sorry. It's just I'm worried. Yeah, just call me." Bård said and without anything the line broke.
"Why can't they fucking find her? It's been five days." Bård said and kicked his bed.
He washed his face with his hands and closed his eyes. He then sat on the edge of his bed.
"I need to find her." Bård said and stood up. He grabbed his jacket, drove his car and went away.
At first he doesn't know where to go but then he remembered the forest. It's the only place she'll seek refuge. If she's not there, then Bård doesn't have a clue where to find her anymore.
He stopped where the road stops and started walking.
"Reve! Are you here? Reve." Bård called. His voice echoed to the depths of the forest but no one is answering. He called and called but there's nothing. It's just either Reve is not really there or she's just hiding.
"Reve, if you're hiding, please show yourself. I want to say sorry for what I did. It was...it was just because I'm stressed and angry and...and I don't really mean it. I'm so sorry." Bård knew that he sounded like an idiot talking by himself but it's nice to make sure encase Reve was there.
"You can go back to my house anytime. If you're not ready now, I'll wait for you. I'm sorry again." Bård shouted and he got animal sounds in response. He continued to walk and found himself standing on the edge of that cliff again. He moved closer and looked below. He can't still believe that he died in this place a few months ago and stood here to actually remember it. Bizarre things happen, he knew that. He just didn't expected it to be this much.
He stepped back, looked around him to see if Reve was around somewhere. He didn't find her but he saw the dead log where Reve and he used to sit once. He moved closer to it and sat down. It was a gloomy day and the sun didn't show up. He remembered the time where Reve showed him the sunrise. It's not like it's his first time to see the sunrise but that was the most beautiful sunrise he saw in his entire life.
He stayed there. Just sitting in that dead log. Quite.
People around me have the habbit of leaving. Ebonne, Alija, and now Reve. Why can't I make them stay? What's wrong with me? He talked to himself.
He let out an exhausted sigh, then, realized something.
"If something happened to her, I have the bead, I ought to feel something. Just anything, maybe, and I am not feeling anything right now so this means that she's safe...for now." He assured himself.
He took his phone from his pocket. He looked for the officer's number. He was about to press dial but he fought the urge to do it.
"He said they'll call." He reminded himself, so instead of dialling he put it off.
Then a few moments it vibrated. He looked at it. It was from the Police. He stood up and took the call and though unsure, he hoped that it was good news.
"Hallo?" He said.
"Mr. Ylvisåker, we found her." The Police officer said on the other line.
"Where?" He asked eagerly.
"The Oslo Medical Center." The officer replied.
"Ok. I'm coming." He said and was about to turn off his phone when the officer added something.
"One thing sir. She's dead."
What the officer said echoed in his ears a million times. He just stood there frozen for a few seconds.
"Don't let them touch her. I'm coming." Bård said and ran towards his car.
