Reve opened her eyes. At first she thought she was dreaming but then, she realized that she was looking at Bård's face. She further examined her surroundings and realized that she was in her room.
"Hey, you okay?" Bård asked, concerned. He was still holding her hand. Reve didn't have anything in response.
"I need to know if you're okay. You just fainted back at the office with no reason." Bård continued.
Reve still didn't budge. Instead, she pushed away Bård's hand.
"Just tell me if you're okay. That's what all I'm asking." Bård pleaded but Reve continued ignoring him. She pulled her blanket and stood up.
"Stop it. You'll strain yourself." Bård said as he pulled Reve back to bed.
"Don't worry. I'm a fox remember?" Reve said coldly and pushed away Bård's grip on her forearm.
"Look, I'm-I'm sorry for that. I didn't mean that." Bård said with pleading eyes but Reve didn't even look at him.
"I'm leaving, and don't stop me this time." Reve said as she continued walking towards the door.
"Reve. I'm really sorry about that. Don't go please." Bård begged but Reve continued walking.
"I don't want you to die." Bård said.
Reve stopped walking.
"You never should have came. You never should have revived me." Reve said indifferently.
"What? No. If I have to do it over and over again, I will. Listen, I never meant to say those words to you. I just said that because I was so angry and confused. I don't know why of all the people, you chose to save me, I don't know why you wanted to kill Ebonne, I don't know why this is all happening to me? I don't know the answers to that. But I know better now. I blamed you for messing my life but I realized that it was me who ruined it. I'm sorry if I hurt you." Bård apologized.
"I don't want to be human anymore so stop saving me." Reve said still with no emotion in her voice.
"No."
Reve turned to him.
"Remember when I saved your life for so many times when all you ever wanted was to die? Annoying isn't it? Well I feel the same way now. Do what you always wanted me to do a long time ago. Stop saving my life and just let me die." Reve said while looking into his eyes.
"Why do you want to die?" Bård asked.
"Because I just want to." Reve screamed.
"That's not an excuse." Bård replied with a rising voice.
"I don't care!" Reve continued screaming.
"Great! Now everybody wants to die." Bård said and gave a sarcastic chuckle.
Reve moved closer to him.
"No. I still wanted to live." She said.
"Then why are you saying that you wanted to die?"
"Because I realized that no matter how hard I try, no matter what sacrifices I make, and no matter what I do and what I don't do, you'll still see me as an animal, a fox. An old, stupid, uncivilized fox that ruined everything in your life! I was never Reve Skåberg to you. I am just a fox, just a fox." Reve screamed as tears started flowing down her cheeks.
"Reve, I-I'm sorry." That was all what Bård could say.
"I don't see the point of being human anymore, so just leave me alone." Reve said angrily and turned his back away from Bård.
"Don't leave me." Bård said in a small voice.
"Why would I stay?!" Reve asked in a scream.
"Because I'm sick of people leaving me." Bård said quietly. There was a long silence between them before Reve continued walking outside her room.
Bård quickly went towards Reve, grabbed her hand, and pulled her into a hug.
"Please, stay." Bård pleaded in a whisper.
She blushed. It was like her heart was melting. He wanted me to stay. Reve repeated on her mind.
"Please." Bård begged. He doesn't want Reve to be gone.
"I will." Reve replied.
"Thanks." Bård said and the hug became tighter.
"I love you." Reve said but he'll never hear it.
