Mare

Maven towered above me as I crouched, trembling by his feet. "Mare," he purred as he began to circle me "I loved you, and you killed me."
"I had to."
"That is a lie."
"You were going to kill me."
"Doesn't mean you had to kill me."
"You're a maniac and a murderer," I spat.

"Don't talk about my son that way!" Elara watched on from her grand throne only a few metres away. My eyes narrowed at her, my face fixed in a glare in her direction. Maven's pacing ceased as his mother stood and gracefully made her way over to us.

She crouched down in front of me and suddenly I was fixed in place. Elara placed her hand under my chin and then pain in my head tripled. I cried out at the pain. "Ah, I can make it worse than that little lightning girl if you don't show the respect you should to your rightful King."
"You," I growled at Maven "are not the rightful king and never will be. Cal would have been a million times better than you and he is the rightful king." Maven's eyes widened slightly but he didn't speak.

Elara stood and without another word slunk off into the shadows, out of sight, leaving me alone with Maven. "I miss it being the two of us Mare," he said.
"Well I don't." His eyes flashed and a fireball hit me directly in the chest, not enough to kill me but the pain was almost unbearable. I screamed from the pain, the burning in my chest.

"Mare?" A voice came from the darkness, a voice I would recognise anywhere.
"Cal!" I screamed. He ran towards me but when he was only a few metres away, his eyes only for me, a blade swung out of nowhere and severed his head in one go. His head rolled across the floor and landed only centimetres from where I was on the floor. My sparks flew, aiming mainly for Elara Merandus, who was holding the hilt of the sword dripping with fresh silver blood. She stopped me from being able to use my power and I tried so hard. I called and called for the sparks that wouldn't come, imagining them flying around the room, killing them both. But they wouldn't come to me no matter how much I called. I screamed Cal's name over and over, sobbing uncontrollably until Elara silenced my voice and I was left just a shell on the ground shaking with sobs impossible to hear.
