Mare

I jogged down the corridor to catch up with Eve. "Are you ok?" I asked her as we rounded to corner and out of sight from where Cal was standing at the door. "After today, I mean. I understand if you need to go home or just take a few days away from everything."
"I'm fine, Mare, honestly. It's not nice to see but it's what needed to be done and what's best for everyone."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Tolly and I spoke earlier. Everything's fine. Well, not everything. What do you think has been happening to those Newbloods."

It was worrying that Newbloods were losing their powers, even if it was only three so far. And that was all we knew of. There may have been many more. "I'm not sure," I said. "I guess we just have to wait until after Farley's interviews and see what she says. Hopefully there's some clue as to what's going on."
"Yeah. Let's just hope there isn't another war. I'm not sure I can face it."
"Me neither," I said joining in with Eve's laughter. "I've got to get back. I'll see you at breakfast."
"Yes, we should spar tomorrow."
"We should. We haven't had a good fight in awhile."
"I look forward to it," Eve said with a smirk "look forward to beating you, that is."
"And I cant wait to beat you, because I am going to win."
"We'll see," Eve said and I rolled my eyes at her before heading back to my room.

I usually beat Eve, I had to make sure I didn't tomorrow.

I opened the door but stopped when I saw Cal holding Ti on the sofa. He was staring at him with so much love in his eyes.

"Yes I am," he was saying. "I am your Dada. I love you."
Ti was smiling up at Cal and a warm smile spread over my face. They looked perfect together. I was sad that I'd kept them apart for so long. I had to make it up to them.

"Hey," I said walking through the door as if I hadn't been stood there at all.
"Hey," Cal said turning his beaming face to me whilst placing Ti on his lap.

I went over and snuggled down next to Cal, not taking Ti from him. Cal wrapped his arm around me and we sat in silence for a few minutes and watched whatever was on the Tv.

"I think Ti needs power training soon," I said, breaking the silence.
"I'll do it," Cal offered like I knew he would.
"Great," I said before lapsing back into our comfortable silence. Cal needed time with Ti.

About 20 minutes later, Cal's hand moved to rest on my arse. I looked up at him curiously to see a mischievous look in his eyes.

I twisted round and pressed my lips to the base of his neck. "Hang on a sec," Cal said standing up and taking Ti through the gap in the wall.

He returned a moment later. "It's probably better he doesn't see this," Cal said before scooping me up off the sofa and carrying me to the bed.

He laid me down and straddled my waist. His lips worked at my throat as he reached up under my vest top and began pulling it off. My arms circled his waist and my hands reached up under his shirt and I pulled him closer to me.

Cal's lips moved from my neck, up my jawline and to my mouth. His tongue asked for entrance and I allowed it, letting my lips part.

Then my top was on the floor and so was Cal's shirt. His hands were at my breasts and I clutched his body to mine.

A minute later Cal's hand moved down to my waistband and began sliding my jogging bottoms down.

I pulled away from his mouth and Cal stopped. "I don't think I'm ready," I whispered.
"It's okay," Cal said "I get it, it has been awhile." He leant back down to my throat and I felt the tears prick to my eyes.

Silent tears rolled down my cheeks and Cal pulled away once he saw. "I'm sorry, Mare," he said rolling off me. "I didn't mean to go too fast."
"It's not that," I whispered.
"Then what is it?" He asked gently wiping a tear off my cheek.
"It's been so long, I should have come back sooner. I'm sorry. I know you want to."

Cal twisted round and his eyes were serious. "Mare, you have nothing to be sorry for. And this is pretty damn great. I don't care about this, the important thing is that we're together. Don't ever feel pressured to do anything or like you're disappointing me. You're perfect and I love you."
"I love you too," I said before our lips met passionately.

It was the best night I'd had in a long time.
