After War Storm

"Where is she?" Evangeline asked, storming into the training centre where I was leading the soldiers in their daily training. Ti was with me since I was looking after him whilst Mare and Cal were away.

"Who?" I asked, playing dumb.
"Please," Evangeline scoffed "you have Ti. You know where Mare is and I wager Cal as well. So where are they?"
"Fine," I sighed. "They left last night."
"I don't know whether to be more annoyed she left or that she didn't tell me."
"Does it matter? Mare and Cal have gone so everyone will know by the end of the day. It's what they're going to do about it that's the problem. There's no point them leaving if Julien or the Council just sends someone to bring them back," I said.
"Right, so-"

Just then, the doors burst open, interrupting Evangeline. Julien walked in, with a slightly angry look on his face. I'd never seen him anywhere close to angry.

"So they went anyway?" He asked approaching Evangeline and I. "Since Cal did not show up to breakfast and is not here."
"Yep," I answered.
"Of course. Who's idea?"
"It was them both," Evangeline said.
"I should have known, I guess. Since when do Cal or Mare listen to anyone?" Julien asked wryly.
"That's true," Evangeline said with a laugh and I smiled too.

"I suppose since they're already gone," I said cautiously "we might as well just wait and see if they find anything."
"Ok, I'll let the others know," Julien said and turned and left the training centre.

"Now that was some successful friend backing up," Evangeline said with a smile.
"It was," I agreed.
"Can I take Ti for the day?" She asked.
"Of course," I said. "I've still got a couple more hours of training to run."
"Thanks," Evangeline said as I passed Ti to her. "See you later," I said.
"See you later," she called over her shoulder as she left the room.

I'd never imagined Evangeline as being good with kids but seeing how she was with Ti made me change my mind. I was glad Elaine was pregnant so Evangeline could have her own child.

I had often wondered if I would ever had a child. I'd never pictured myself with one before but I could see it more clearly now. And thinking of that made me miss the only person I could see it with. Kilorn.

The door opened for the third time and I turned to look saying "What?" But then I froze. It was him. Kilorn was here.

"Hey," he said stopping a foot in front of me. My eyes were trapped in his beautiful green ones and his smile dazzled me.
"Hey," I whispered, feeling my heart flutter.
"It's good to see you," he said.
"It's good to see you too," I said looking down at the floor and blushing. "So why are you here?"
"I got Mare's letter saying she was returning to see Cal and she told me not to come but why would I want to stay away?" I blushed even deeper.
"Well, Mare and Cal have gone on a trip so..."
"It's not like Mare's the only reason I came to Norta, is it?"
"So, what I'm hearing," I said "is that I don't have to share you for awhile."
"Sounds good to me." Kilorn leaned forward and when our lips were only millimetres apart, a round of whistles, 'oooos' and coughs sounded form the soldiers. I jumped back immediately.

"Nothing to see here," I called "Back to work!"

I turned back to Kilorn. "Sorry about that," I said.
"Nothing you could do," he said with a smile before leaning forward so his lips were at my ear. "Later," he whispered and I shivered at his breath on my neck. "Come find me when you're done." He pulled back, gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and winked as he walked from the room.

I couldn't believe he was here. I'd missed Homs I much. I suddenly couldn't wait for training to be over.
