I could only assume Felicity and her family hadn't moved from the room we'd left them in when we arrived back at the castle before I'd received the worst news I had ever been given.

It was worse than the time I'd killed my father.

Worse than when Mare was held prisoner by my brother.

Worse than when he had died.

Worse than when I thought she'd move on and forget about me.

The only pain that compared to this was when I thought Mare would die and I would lose her forever. Lose her to the wound inflicted by Maven before she killed him.

But even that wasn't the same as this. I'd never actually had to face her dying.

My son was dead.

"Cal," a voice called from behind me, jolting me from my thoughts. I turned around to see Cameron who jogged over to me with someone behind her.

"Kilorn?" I asked, shocked to see him here. He nodded towards me. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to see Mare," he explained "and Cameron," he added, wrapping his arm around her waist causing her to blush. "I'm sorry about Ti," he said and I nodded in recognition. I didn't know what to say.

"Me too, Cal." Cameron looked very upset, almost as if she would cry any second. "I know I was supposed to look after him and I couldn't even manage it for one night. I am so so sorry."
"Don't blame yourself, Cameron," I told her. Though I wasn't particularly happy that she had let this happen, I wouldn't want her to blame herself. "What did happen?" I asked quietly, almost not wanting to know.

"That's the thing, no one is entirely sure," Kilorn said when Cameron didn't answer. "Cam had been looking after Ti, and Evangeline came and took him during training, as she wanted to look after him for the day. Then I came and Cam and I spent a couple of hours together before she went to get Ti from Evangeline. She came back saying Evangeline was keeping Ti for a bit longer but Evangeline claims Cam took him with her. He was found shortly after, outside, below a balcony."

Below a balcony?

Ti couldn't have done that on his own.

I'd thought this had all been an accident.

But it wasn't.

Someone had murdered my son.

Who would do that?

Who could kill a baby?

And why had they wanted to?

I'd guess it was the same person who had destroyed our room. We needed to find them and soon, before they destroyed something else.

"I've got to go," I said, abruptly turning away from them.
"Cal," Cameron called as I walked away but I didn't turn around. I needed to find Felicity to see if she could save my son. She was the only hope I had left.

"Mare's in Evangeline's room," I called over my shoulder so they could go and see her. I wondered if Sara had found anything wrong. I would have to go and see as soon as I'd spoken to Felicity.

Though I wasn't sure what I was going to say. She was only nine. I didn't want to tell her Ti was dead, let alone murdered and she was the only chance we had at saving him. That was a lot of pressure for someone so young.

It reminded me of Luther. I'd helped him to control his ability but he was always extremely cautious and for good reason. If his control slipped for even a second, someone could die. It was the same for Felicity.

No one should have to bare the weight of such an ability. Especially not people so young.

It didn't take me long to reach the room where we'd left the others and they were still there.

"Is everything alright?" Greg asked me when I entered the room.
"No," I answered. "My son is dead."
"I am so sorry," he said, followed by his wife, Samantha, also giving her condolences.

The two kids, Luke and Felicity, were over the other side of the room and couldn't hear us.

"Greg, do you think Felicity could possibly help at all?" I asked hesitantly. I wasn't sure how he'd react.
"I'm not sure. She's never used her power on people and I don't know how it works or whether she'd be able to bring your son back to life. Maybe with some training she could?"

He wasn't sure if she could but he seemed fine with her trying.

I'd need to help her practice before but I could do that. We didn't have long though.

"Felicity?" I said and she turned around to look at me. "After we get you settled in your room, do you think we'd be able to do a little bit of practice with your power?"
"Yeah, sure." She seemed nervous. I'd guess it was because she didn't have much control over it but I was sure we could get it to work.

I'd do anything to save Ti.

I know it's short and I know literally nothing happened but I said I'd update today and I only have two minutes left so it's the best I could do.
