Liam's POV
Kelsie. What was she doing here? Class was going to end in about eight minutes. "Get down," I whisper in (Y/N)'s ear, pulling her and her backpack down with me. "Wait, what?" (Y/N) whispers back to me. "Kelsie," I tell her. Her eyes grow wide, but then she nods. We both watch as Kelsie slowly makes her way through the gym, glancing around the area every two seconds. I then realize how close (Y/N) and I are. I look over at her and grin. She was busy looking down at Kelsie, but I see a small grin form at the corner of her mouth. She turns her head towards me and mouths, 'What?' I laugh very quietly and notice Kelsie opening the doors on the other side of the gym. Thank God. She leaves and I let go of the air I was apparently holding in. (Y/N) stands up and sits down on the bleacher. I sit down next to her and let out a laugh. "Well that was interesting." "Oh yeah," she laughs too. I smile again and look at her.

"So, to answer your question..." She nods, watching me. "I chose to become your partner because I wanted to get to know you better and see what Kelsie was missing." That causes her to smile. "And I'm guessing you're still wondering what happened Saturday...?" She nods. "So, I went back to my car, but once I got near the parking lot, I had a feeling something was wrong. I knew Kelsie could be a bitch, so I went back towards the field and overheard some of what she was saying to you-" "So you felt bad for me, is that why you wanted to be my partner? Liam, I hate people giving me pity-" "No, (Y/N), I don't pity you. Over the past few months, I saw how you were by yourself, and I wanted to see if that same person would appear with me." "The past few months? That would go back into August, when it was still summer vacation." "Exactly," I grin.

The bell rings. "I saw you at a book store one time, when I was on the sidewalk, so I stopped and watched you read for a minute. I remember it clearly. You were holding a book and you flipped it over, and read the back cover. When you finished reading that, you grinned and looked around some more-" "Stop," she laughs, "that's just creepy you remember all those details." I laugh too. "Well, I do, so...." "So... I better get to sixth hour. I also should stop by my fifth hour after school to see what I missed," she stands up and grabs her bag.

"No, allow me," I say, standing up and grabbing her backpack. "I'll jump down first and you toss your bag down. After that, you jump." I walk over to the edge of the bleachers and jump, turning back to face (Y/N). "Now drop the bag..." She does, and I set it on the ground by my feet. "And now you jump." "Liam...," (Y/N) says, standing by the edge above me. "Don't worry, I'll be here, trust me. I won't let you fall," I smile. She grins and sighs, sitting down on the edge and slips off. I open my arms and hold onto her as she reaches me. I tighten my grip and smile down at her. "See, you're all in tact." "Oh, shut up," she giggles. I chuckle and set her down, reaching down and pulling her backpack off the ground. "Now I'll be late to sixth hour, crap." "It's okay, I'll walk you to class." "Liam, that would make you even more late." I shrug, "I don't really mind, it's just my sports medicine class, and the teacher never marks me late." "Well, aren't you special," she laughs again, beginning to head to the doors. I laugh and follow her, carrying her bag. "Maybe I am," I joke.

Her smile fades and she looks at me when we reach the door. "What?" I ask, my smile fading too. "It's just, I don't know what's going to happen after this." "What do you mean?" I look into her eyes. "I never get what I want, and it's been rough ever since Kelsie-" "Hey, you have me now, I'll protect you." "Thanks, Liam," she smiles, pushing the door open. I follow her into the half crowded hallway and look up at the clock. It was only seconds before sixth hour began. "We better get to your class then. What's your sixth hour?"

"Independent study." I laugh and give her a look. "Seriously? You're worried about being late to independent study?" "Oh stop," she laughs, playfully hitting me. We start heading down the hallway, turning right and find her classroom. "Well, thanks for finding me," she tells me, looking at her brown boots. I put my finger under her chin and make her look up at me. I smile and say, "I'll see you after class, okay? I'll wait outside this room." A shy smile forms and she nods. "Okay." I grin and pull her towards me. I kiss her forehead and catch another shy smile on her face. "Bye (Y/N)." "Bye Liam," she says, and goes into her classroom. I smile like an idiot for a minute after she disappears. I finally move my legs and begin walking down the hallway to sports medicine.
