"So, you've never gone out with anyone before?"
"Nope, I've pretty much dedicated my time to either the gang or having fun by myself, with guns, diet coke, or video games," I said, watching the lake, it was oddly peaceful for something that wasn't real.
"What video games do you play?"
"Apex legends, I used to play overwatch before they added satan herself, Skyrim, and Fallout 4."
"'You can't stop the octrain!'"
"'My name is Bloth Hoondr, you can call me bloodhound'," I said, imitating the accent that he used with my hand over my mouth.
"I love that game so much, I play Octane if you couldn't tell."
"I could tell, no one quotes Octane without playing Octane," I said, laughing when I remembered a game that happened when I dropped and immediately got my favorite weapon fully kitted. I explained to her how the game went, how I had gotten into a fire fight with 3 other squads simultaneously.
"That sounds like hell."
"I'm glad I was recording, I'll have to show you it some time later."
"Sounds good," She said, and I started to wake up, back into hell itself. There was Jack, feeding Jameson, and I heard horrible screams so I knew he had dropped the torch into the pit.
"Sup?!"
"What's up, dude? Hows Jamie?" I said and sat down in front of the big dog, who put his head in my lap and looked up at me with big fiery eyes, "Yes, I'm talking about you Mr. Doggo."
"He's been pretty good, he missed you tho."
"I can see that," I said, scratching the dog's ears, "Is that true, Jamie? Hmm? Did ya miss me?" I said and he stood up and started licking my face.
"I'd take that as a yes," Jack said, laughing as Jameson licked my face.
"Okay, Okay! I get it, boy! Down Jamie, Down!" I said and Jamie got back down with his head in my lap, "Good boy."
"How was your time at the pond?"
"It was alright, I'd rather be back in my bed though."
"Of course you would, you're still tired ain't ya?"
"You already know that I am, man, I never get sleep anymore, it's aggravating," I said and started walking towards my room, determined to get at least a little sleep. I laid down on my bed with my hoodie still on and found myself asleep near instantly.
"Wake up, Jake! I wanna go get a fountain drink," Jack screamed to wake me up, it didn't surprise me, almost every day we would wake up and go to the gas station for a fountain drink.
"Lemme get dressed and we can go, relax," I said as I pulled myself awake, Jack had a habit of waking me up for a fountain drink, which was helpful because without it I probably wouldn't get my morning caffeine rush. Lucifer knows I run on caffeine. I started getting dressed, hoodie over my v-neck, jeans, and boots.
"Ready to go?"
"Yeah, I need caffeine, let's go," I said and we started towards the garage, Jack grabbed the keys to our truck and jumped in the driver's seat. He always drove us there because half the time I was too tired to focus on the time of day, let alone the road. He turned on the radio and Rachel Platten's 'Stand By You' started playing, to which Jack started laughing because he knew how much I like this song.
"...even if we can't find heaven, I'll walk through hell with you!" I sung along to the lyrics as we drove and eventually got to the gas station when the song finished.
"Let's get some soda, mate," Jack said as we entered the store and we made our way towards the back, when we got there I got really happy because the energy shots had been restocked. I grabbed a 52 oz. cup and put some ice, 3 shots of energy, and 2 shots of cherry flavoring in the cup then filled it with Coke Zero. Jack got the same thing but with Big Red and 3 shots of cherry.
"Jake and Jack, what's going on, y'all??" We heard from behind us and a very energetic cashier was standing at the counter, we knew him all too well.
"What's up, Michael?!" I said as we both gave him a high five, he was a cashier at this place for a while and eventually got promoted to day shift manager so we got free drinks every once in a while.
"Not much, man, I heard about the heist y'all pulled. How many digits we talkin' about?"
"Twelve digits my dude, it was insane. Let's just say that San Antonio won't forget us anytime soon."
"That's nuts, I wouldn't say I'm surprised though. Y'all never went for small shit, only the grandest and most infamous for the high and mighty Double J's," He said as he rang up our drinks, I handed him a 5 and told him to keep the rest, mainly because I didn't care about the change, but also because I wanted to get home and game.
"See ya, Michael!" We yelled back as we got into our truck, and started drinking our sodas. I had put a bit more caffeine in mine thanks to a pill that I had found a while back, and so that caffeine rush was near instant.
"You wanna get home and game, don't you?"
"Hell yeah, dude! I'm taking a me day."
"Alright, ya want me to join you?"
"Sure," I said as the engine roared and our truck was racing down the highway, needless to say, I was loud when caffeinated, and gaming, so I was glad we had noise-proofed our room.
