Chapter 34

Samantha

One month later

I'm finally ready to leave, Daryl left a couple of days after he arrived telling me he was going to go back and then bring the wagon since I can't ride his bike. I have been in continuous contact keeping home up to date with what's happening, I wanted to keep my eye on what's happening here, I'm trusting their scientists and it's taken longer than we thought, the vaccine that they made wasn't right and when it was given to the test subject it unfortunately killed him, so it was back to the drawing board again, we recreated it following my notes to the letter, and this time the vaccine was correct, and thankfully the test subject didn't die this time. I've been keeping an eye on them and I think I can finally go home which I should be doing tomorrow or the next day as Daryl and his men are coming to collect me and bring me home. I'm just finishing up in the lab as Jennifer comes up to me.

"So Samantha, are you excited to go home? You should stay we could use you here."

"I know and I wish I could, my husband would want to stay where we live as his family's there, personally I'd love to live here I like it, it's just like old times."

"Well, we have to do something as goodbye. You've done an amazing thing creating this. You've saved the world."

"Honestly I didn't my dad did. I think I'm happy to be leaving here and going back to my family."

"Maybe we could go to dinner, come on Samantha you never have any fun."

"Okay Jennifer, But I need to get changed I'm all grimy."

"Okay I'll meet you at the rose and thorn bar, say an hour?"

"Yeah that'd be great. Until then."

We walked back to our homes as we are neighbors, I shower and look through my closet for something to wear, I'm so big now, I'm twenty six weeks I am still having lingering doubts about these two, I know Daryl said that he'll be happy with these two but I'm still unsure what I feel. I have no idea if they are boys or girls though I do know they're identical. I picked out this pretty pink dress I found here, it's short and tight perfect for a night out, I looked around the house and I've packed everything I wanted to take back. I grabbed my bag and headed outside. I made good time to the pub and found Jennifer, we hugged and sat down.

"You look really good, I don't know how you can be pregnant in this day and age. My husband wants a baby but I don't really want one. They're you second ones right?"

"Yeah."

"I mean don't get me wrong I like holding babies but I'm just glad to hand them back."

"Oh babies aren't that bad. My daughter..."

"You never mention her, why?"

"I don't want to miss her, not talking about my family helps me to not miss them."

"Yeah I get you, I do the same when my husband is away like now, he's supposed to be back tomorrow." The waiter came and took our orders as a random man came over and talked to us.

"Well, hello lovely ladies can I get you anything?" I look at him he has the bluest eyes besides Daryl's I've ever seen.

"No thanks we're fine."

"Samantha, don't be like that he's just being friendly. Sure thing my pregnant friend can't drink but I'll pretty much drink anything."

"Oh you're pregnant. You're a very pretty woman, so are you. What's your name pretty girl?"
