The door bangs open in the middle of Jade and Mavericks duet. I look up to glare at the intruders, only to see that it's Cicily and Emma. I sigh and roll my eyes.
Emma swaggers over, walking in zigzags. Cicily follows her lead. They sit down next to me. I lean over.
"Are you guys drunk, high, or both?!" I whisper. They start to smile.
"Tessaaaa, did you miss us?!" Emma says loudly
"Be quiet! It's Jade and Mavericks duet!" I say quietly as I put a hand over her mouth. "Aren't you two supposed to be practicing? Basketball season is almost here."
"Yeah, but Emma wanted to come and annoy you, so... we chose the funnier option," Cicily says quietly.
"Ugh, no, she's going to be too hyper," I say, exasperated
"Don't worry Tes, we just wanted to watch for a minute, then we'll go," Emma says. Cicily nods.
"Okay. Good."
"Just kidding. We're here all day." Emma stands and bows.
"What?!"
"Come on, Tes, we just want to watch you perform," Cicily says.
"Well, right now we're watching Jade perform. So be nice!" I warn them.
"We'll try, but she's not as good as you," Cicily says while holding back laughter.
"Cicily, rude but true," Emma says laughing, lightly punching her. I watch as Jade and Maverick finish the last lines of the song. Seriously? I wanted to listen to them. Wait, they're done. That means it's almost my turn!
"Okay, I have to go up, it's almost my turn," I say, standing up and running to the stage. I was in the opening number, and we were going over it. Again.
We take our places as the opening chords sound. I'm silent until my solo.
"When he was 10 his father split, full of it, debt-ridden..."
I'm not in the second number, so I go sit down. Emma and Cicily smile at me.
"You did pretty okay," Emma says, smiling.
"What? Pretty okay? She was amazing!" Cicily praises. I can feel myself turn red.
"Thanks."
"Okay, well, Tes, you were right. I'm too hyper, I've got to go play." Emma says, giving me an apologetic look. Oh, phew. I think.
"Oh, it's okay. I'll just have to do without my fan club for now." I say sarcastically. Emma and Cicily both laugh.
"Well, bye! Break a leg!" Emma calls as they walk out.
"Not literally!" Cicily says quickly. I watch them leave and can't help letting out a sigh of relief as I sit back down, looking at my lines.Word Count //408 Words\\
