Great. Just great. Now I have to do the project all by myself. Great! I think as I open the laptop. I look over at Emma and Tessa. Those girls are so confusing. I mean, most girls are, but these girls are really weird. But Emma is right about one thing. Tessa's boyfriend is a jerk. The bell rings, interrupting my train of thought. I gather my stuff and get up to leave right as someone taps my shoulder.

"Hey, sorry about Emma ditching you. She shouldn't have done that." I turn and see Tessa. She apologizes for others a lot.

"It-it's all good." Why am I stuttering?

"Are you sure?" She looks really concerned.

"Y-yeah. We're meeting up tomorrow, so it's all good." I look down at my feet as we walk.

"What element are you doing your project on?"

"Oh, um... neon."

"Cool."

"W-w-what about you?"

"We're doing platinum... so, um, yeah..." Silence. This is so awkward! I hate small talk!

"Um, so, your boyfriend." WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?! IDIOT! She turns red.

"What about him?"

"Well, he seems like he, um, uh-"

"Doesn't like anyone but himself? You'd be right."

"He must like you, though. He's your boyfriend."

"He seems like he doesn't like people. He just has a hard time reaching out."

"Yeah, or he's a jerk." She rolls her eyes.

"You've spent way too much time with Emma."

"Emma might be right about this."

"And how would you know? You don't know me." I stop. She's right. I don't know her.

"I would like to." She flips her braid over her shoulder.

"And how do you propose going about that?"

"I don't know. You do drama, right?"

"Yes..."

"Well, when's the play?"

"Next month."

"Are you selling tickets?" What are you doing? You don't even know her! Then I smile. That's the whole point, though. Right?

"Yeah, I am." She turns to me. "They're thirty bucks."

"W-w-what?" Thirty bucks? Is this even worth it?

She laughs. "I'm kidding. Five bucks apiece."

"Well, that's a relief." She smiles.

"I know."

"You do?" She doesn't strike me as the kind who can't afford luxuries. I mean, she walks to school, but she doesn't act like money is a problem.

"I care about the kids in drama. A lot of them can't afford tickets that expensive." Of course. She's just being a good person.

"That's nice that they had the prices that low."

"They didn't. I had to cut them."

"That was your decision? Cool." She blushed.

"Thanks. But it's really not a big deal."

"It k-kind of is. We live in a mixed area. So it is a big deal."

"I mean, I guess when you put it that way..." She tucks some hair back behind her ear. She has really long hair...

"So, how's your project going?" She asks, shyly changing the subject.

"Pretty good. It's due next week, so we should be fine. What about you?" I ask, curious. Emma better have helped them out a lot.

"It's going really well. Emma helped out a lot today." I nod and then stop. Did she tell Tessa that I'm Spider-Man? I decided to find out.

"So, did you guys talk about much?" She looks at me curiously.

"Yeah. The project." She says, laughing a little. "When Emma wants something done, she doesn't stop until it is." The warning bell rings.

"Um, well, nice talking to you." I stutter out awkwardly. Shoot. I am going to be so late.

"Yeah, see you later." She keeps on walking straight while I turn to go to history.
