"Are you okay——??" The voice repeated shaking my shoulders
"Um—-yess—uh—it's just—that.. um"
"You don't have to explain. As long as your fine. And that you promised you won't do it again—?" Sanna said worriedly hugging me tightly
I felt happy. I finally have a friend. A friend I could trust. I like her. I want to be part of her group. I smiled. Smiled big. My teeth showing and bangs pushed back. As tears flowed. Ever so slowly.
We headed back to the classroom. She waved at Jun and Chan, they were fixing our desk back to normal and then they waved at us. I waved back...I was glad to be back in the classroom.
We sat down on our desk as our English teacher entered the classroom for the lecture.
I looked outside the window as our teacher read a poem in English. She was speaking gibberish. I couldn't understand a word. The field of the school wasn't so big. It had a small tennis court and a field to play soccer on. You could see the private school as well. The view was extraordinary.
I could see everything from here.
Then a young man caught my attention. A man and a woman playing hooky. They were climbing out the gate from the private school, they seemed to be a couple.
The same couple from this morning.
It was cute to watch, the man reaching his hand to help the girl.
Sanna tapped me to get my attention. She wondered what I was looking at so seriously. I pointed at the couple. We both laughed. She explained how she wanted a tall boyfriend and a handsome guy with a good body shape. Jun pointed at himself. She blushed and laughed at him.
I laughed at both of them.
"You guys should just date" I said jokingly
"No way!" Sanna shouted
"Hey girls be quiet!" The English teacher complained
"Sorry" we apologized as Sanna stared at me arrogantly. Jun smiled and gave me a big thumbs up. He didn't look like the kind of person who would smile so easily. He had a long black hair and a mole below his right eye. He looked intimidating and bored. But his personality didn't match his face at all. He was kind. And he smiled a lot. And most of all he liked Sanna. A LOT.
When the bell rang Sanna invited me to eat out with them. They explained how we needed to talk and get to know each other more. The boys agreed. And I agreed.
We went out and ate at a cafe. It was cute. The place was bubbly. It was decorated with two certain colours, pale blue and pink.
Cute posters were hanged on the wall, and a cute bell on the door, so every time you opened the door, it made a ringing sound. It ringed a couple of times, I guess it was a popular cafe.
The line seemed to never stop, it just kept getting longer.
We sat at a circular table close by the bathrooms. It had four comfy chairs, and a table lamp in the centre. We sat in the usual order.
"Why did you move here Yumi? The city seems to be far better than this isolated place. You legit know everyone here, no one new..except you.." Sanna asked randomly
"I—um—well.. my mother went abroad and she left me with my grandma...." I replied hesitantly
"How about you guys? Did you live in this place for your whole life?" I said changing the topic.
"Well I was born here like Jun, and we met Chan halfway Junior high" Sanna replied happily sipping her macchiato
Jun whispered something in Sanna's ear. TheY looked at each other and giggled, Chan seemed to not care, he looks used to it.
"So— Yumi— what sports game are you planning to join?" Chan asked rubbing his glass of water
"Well—is it optional.. I'm not really athletic" I replied tugging my shirt
"Well I mean we all have to participate in the sports event next week... I guess you don't know about it since your new..." Chan said reassuring me "Well—- we have this sports event in our school that we do after the first week of school—usually— We use the private school's field for it.... since ours is too small"
"I'm so excited for it!!! I can't believe I still get excited every year!" Sanna exclaimed
"Our group usually joins the track and field.. you wanna try it out?" Jun added
"Well—sure I could try.." I replied happily
I was glad they asked me to join...I was glad they wanted to get to know me.
Maybe we'll be together for a long time. The four of us——or maybe someone new will join too.
I don't know yet—maybe.
