what the heck is up???

so this is kinda a debby downer but i hope you like it anyway. i'll put a slight trigger warning here. assault happens in this chapter.

it's basically just zach's backstory. 💛 italics mean flashback.

"then what really happened?" jack set a hand on the back of zach's neck.

"just promise you won't get mad at me." zach leaned into jack for comfort.

"i won't. i'm here for you." jack held the boy tight. zach pulled back and leaned against the wall. jack just sat in front of him.

"okay so i'll give context first." zach cleared his throat. "i was seventeen almost eighteen and it was 1951. i was about to go into the war since the korean war was going on. it ended before i could enlist myself and i also broke my arm so i wouldn't have been able to anyway. now i'll tell you what happened."

jack nodded before zach started telling the story.

'zach was walking home after seeing a movie with his girlfriend of the time. he walked her home but then had to walk by himself in the dark. it wasn't that far of a walk but it was cold and dark outside.

zach kept his arms wrapped around himself and pulled his sweater tighter. he was walking on the dirt road the lead up the large hill to his neighborhood. it was surrounded by trees and woods.

zach heard some rustling around in the trees and stopped to look around. he felt his heart start picking up. he started to walk faster up the hill before he was grabbed by a large man. zach tried to scream but something was shoved in his mouth by another man.

they pulled zach into the dense forrest and pushed him to the ground. zach tried to get away but one of the men stopped him. the man cut his wrist open and looked to his buddy.

"hold him down."

the man nodded and held zach's face in his hand. zach's mouth was forced open as he struggled against them. the man put his wrist to zach's mouth and forced him to drink his blood. zach thrashed around and tried to push them away but zach wasn't strong enough against them.

then they tied zach's hands behind his back. zach cried out as he was slapped across the face but it was muffled from the cloth they shoved back in his mouth. the one that made zach drink his blood held him down as the other on flipped him over and pulled his clothes off. zach cried as he tried to get away but the guy sitting on his back made it difficult.

zach thrashed around still. he couldn't let this happen to him. zach clenched his fists as the guy lifted his hips and assaulted him. zach let out sob after sob as he realized it was over. once he realized that he was going to die, he gave up. he was okay with it after what they did to him. he didn't want to live after he had been raped.

the guy finished before standing up and fixing his pants then he took over holding zach down but it wasn't like he was going anywhere. "give him the bite then let's go."

"hold him down." the guy leaned down and pushed zach's head to the side. zach let out a choked noise as the guy sank his teeth into zach's neck. he drank some of zach's blood before pulling away. "kill him."

the man stood up before pulling the gun out. he aimed it at zach and that's when zach changed his mind. zach cried as the guy pointed the weapon at him.

then they shot him twelve times.

zach only remembered the first three shots before he died.
