Kingdoms [A Jimina Story]

Chapter 12

Rose feels guilty for yelling at the woman. Maybe she didn't have a choice, maybe dad really tried to save me. Several thoughts ran through her head that night. She started doubting Mina's stories. Her mother finally came back and all she can do is blame her for something that might not even be her fault.

Rose heads down to the prison to meet with her mother. She unchains her wrists and hands over food and water. Yubin smiles and says, "You matured to be such a beautiful woman." Rose looks at her mothers eye and state. She's dirty and thin. Rose says, "I'm sorry for yelling at you, I just felt angry."

Yubin looks at her in the eyes and smiles then says, "It's ok, I never thought I would ever meet you. I thought they killed you." Rose starts tearing up and says, "Why did you leave me? Why did you run away! I never even seen the face of my dad!" Yubin cries and says, "We tried to save you, your father went back to get you knowing that there was a chance he wouldn't make it. I was too weak to come back and your brother was too young to know anything."

The guard informs Rose that Mina was on her way so she straightens up and wipes her tears. She says, "I'll try talking to her. I don't want you to die, not after we just reunited. I need a proper explanation."

Mina walks down the long spiral stairways which leads to the prison. She sharpens her katana and opens the door to Yubin's cell. She points the sword at her forehead and Rose yells, "Unnie! Don't kill her, we can settle this without bloodshed." Mina pushes her younger sister away and says, "Sorry Rosie, I can't spare her life not after she took everything from me. I've waited my whole life for this moment!"

Rose grunts as she hits the ground and says, "Mina! You're better than them! You shouldn't go down to their level and be the thing you hate the most!" Mina pauses then lowers her blade and says, "I'm willing to do anything to avenge my family. Avenge my father. Avenge my mother. Avenge my brother."

Yubin looks up at the mention of her brother and thinks to herself, "Brother? Kai died of the incident?" Mina notices her and laughs maniacally, "Hahaha, did you forget you killed Kai too? Hahaha, oh well."

Rose notices Mina going crazy and says, "Mina, this isn't right. This isn't my sister, you're crazy." Mina turns to the younger girl and says, "You're right. I'm not your sister and if it weren't for my desperate need of a family, I would've killed you a long time ago." Rose looks at her scared, she never seen Mina like this. She's a monster.

Mina turns to Yubin and raises the blade then says, "I hereby declare your crime as treason to the throne. Punishable by death." Before she swings the blade, Rose quickly slides a knife on Mina's leg. She falls to the ground stunned while Rose takes her mother and runs.

Mina stays on the ground in pain while Rose fetches a horse so they could run away. The guards notice her but she says that she's taking the prisoner for a walk. Knowing that the prisoner was her mother, the guards let it go. Rose brings her mother to the port where Jungkook picked up Jimin.

She rests her mother on the ground then says, "I'll get us a boat just wait here. I won't take too long." After an hour or so, she brings a small boat. They board and she says, "Where to?" Her mother says, "I know where. Just go to sleep, you must be exhausted."

Several hours later

"Chaeyoung..." Rose is awoken by the a small nudge and glances around. She notices a taller woman with another man. Her mother says, "This is Lisa and Bambam. They'll be helping you out while we're here." Rose asks, "Where's here?" Lisa smiles and says, "Gucci. You're part of our squad now." Bambam takes her hand and kisses it then says, "Double B. I'm Bambam."

Lisa pushes him away and says, "You're making her uncomfortable and this is Jimin's sister your hitting on." Rose rubs her head and says, "How long was I asleep?" Bambam looks outside and says, "About 12 hours. We made lunch, you should join us."

Rose follows the two and is greeted by a group of people. She bows and says, "Hello, I'm Roseanne." Jungkook stands and says, "So your Jimin's sister. Nice to meet you, I'm Captain Jungkook." Jimin stares at her awkwardly then Tzuyu introduces herself, "Hello, I'm Tzuyu."

Rose bows to the queen and Jimin says, "Where's mom?" She answers, "She's resting. I heard you met with Jihyo." He nods but Lisa interrupts him with a question, "What's life like at the Myoui Dynasty?"

Rose chuckles and says, "It's peaceful. The weather is humid and the people are kind. A lot of studying though, they kind of force education. Mina said I should study a lot and I was too busy to really explore."

Bambam chuckles and says, "Sounds evil. Making you study while you're so young. You should be living." Rose defends her, "She's not evil and she did let me live my life. But, I wanted to help her, she didn't have the experience of a childhood so I felt bad." The room silences and Bambam says, "Well from the stories I heard, she's crazy." Rose raises her voice, "She's not crazy! Mina is a sweetheart but when things remind her of her past, she tends to go out of control."

The room silences and she says, "It's the trauma. She experienced bad things at a young age and she had so much on her back since then. Give her a break." Rose stands from the table and walks away leaving a half eaten plate of food. Jungkook smacks Bambam's head and says, "You should learn to shut up."

Jimin stands and approaches his sister. He says, "Sorry about Bambam, he just runs his his mouth without talking." She smiles back at him and says, "I'm used to it. The kids at my school always talked about her like that." He smiles back and says, "I believe you though. Mina is a sweetheart but the pressure on her is too much."

Jungkook suddenly enters the room they're in and says, "You two need to see this." They looked at him concerned and rush outside. Rose falls to her knees and Jimin clenches his fists. They gaze at the lifeless body as Jungkook curses, "How did we not seem them?" They glance at the large log standing upright.

Yubin's hanging off the log, dead. Words written on the ground with her blood.

"Hand over the traitor's son."
