As Lily got closer to the house, she could hear yelling. When she made it inside, Adrienne was up against the wall and The Man yelled, "what the fuck were you thinking?" before smacking her across the face.

"I didn't do anything!" Adrienne told him, silent tears rolling down her face. She hated that she didn't have the strength to stand up for herself or to fight back. It made her feel weak and useless. Every time Nikolas pulled her from the room with the girls, he injected her with more silver to keep her from being able to do so.

Nikolas was suspicious of what they had been doing outside for so long, the Alpha's daughter wouldn't give up any information. So, when he heard the bitch walk in, he decided to take a different route instead. He just had to be careful as she was carrying his heir.

Lily knew from past experience that running wouldn't stop him from hurting her, so she turned to Adrienne and gave her a look trying to get her and the other girls out of there. When they were gone, Lily breathed a sigh of relief to know that they wouldn't witness any of this.

The Man strutted towards her and pushed her up against the wall, "and where were you?"

"Outside with Adrienne and the girls." Not a complete lie, Lily thought to herself.

"Bullshit!" Nikolas yelled and threw a fist at the girls' face. How dare she even consider lying to him like that, she had been up to something and he didn't like that he did not know what that something was. Nikolas grabbed hold of her arms and trapped them against the wall so she would have the satisfaction of providing herself comfort from the blow he had just delivered, "you have a terrible habit. STOP LYING TO ME!"

"I'm not lying! I was outside playing tag with them. Then Adrienne and I stayed out there and talked."

"Then explain to me why you just now decided to join us inside!"

"I stayed outside to think for a little while," also not a complete lie. The Man didn't seem to like her answer so much, but he punched her again then shoved her away before pacing back into his room.

Lily made sure to pull herself together before setting off to find Adrienne and the girls. When she did, all their eyes were on her; Charlie ran up to Lily and she lifted her into her arms, "ooh otay?" (You okay?)

"Yeah baby girl, I'm fine." Lily smiled at her and placed a kiss on her cheek. She then made her way over to Adrienne and asked, "did he hurt you?"

Adrienne showed Lily her arms, "not really. He shoved me against the wall and hit me, but you saw that." She could visibly see that Lily was upset that she had gotten hurt.

Lily hated that there wasn't anything she could do to get The Man to leave Adrienne alone. She was angry with herself that she couldn't stop this, or seem to figure out a away for all of them to escape. Nobody deserved this type of treatment, but if someone had to go through it, it might as well have been Lily. She could handle it considering all that she'd already been through.

Every morning Lily woke up to the thought of Jackson. A lot of the time she thought about what it would be like to wake up in his arms, other times about what it would be like to be with him. She knew that it wasn't right, but she just couldn't get him out of her head. Lily hated to admit it, but she missed him... a lot. She wished things could go back to how they had been between them.

The dull ache in her chest got worse every day. It didn't make any sense to Lily why being away from him was causing her pain. Or why she thought about him all the time when she shouldn't have had him on her mind at all, all things considered.
