I knew it. I knew something was going on! After Lily had told Jackson about her father, he was furious. He needed to go for a run. Hearing what she had told him made him wish that they had locked that man up and tortured him so he could suffer and potentially get an inkling of how he made Lily feel. Just imagining him doing those things to his mate made a low growl come from his chest and his wolf form huff in anger. He had been running for hours, trying to let off some steam. He only festered in the fury though.
Eventually his dad's voice rang through his head, family meeting. Now. Jackson's family had more family meetings in the past few months than they'd had in the last seven years. Most, if not all, were surrounded around Lily and his inability to do what was best for the pack.
Jackson headed back to the pack house, stopping in his room for clothes before heading into the office. By the time he arrived, his parents and Adrienne were already settled. Adrienne was sat on the edge of the couch with her arms crossed while her parents were behind the desk. Jackson glanced back and forth between the three of them. What is it this time? He asked his sister.
She rolled her eyes, probably the same as every other time. I'm getting tired of doing this.
Yeah, you're not the only one. "How many more times are we going to do this?" Jackson asked frustrated that these meetings had become a regular occurrence.
"As many times as it takes," his father spoke.
"What's the argument this time? Please make it something new. I'm tired of making my same points over and over again."
"That girl will be the downfall to this pack! If you would just listen to me, then we wouldn't be here!"
"I have listened! Every single time we do this, I listen. You underestimate her. And I'm not going to put up with this shit much longer!" I said, expressing my anger.
"Jackson! Don't speak to your father that way!" My mom spoke up.
"And why not?! This is a useless waste of mine and Adrienne's time!"
"No, that girl is a waste of time, son!" My father yelled.
"For the last time; her name is Lily." Adrienne exclaimed, frustratedly.
"It doesn't matter! She is not Luna material!"
"It doesn't matter! She hasn't done anything wrong to deserve this type of treatment!" Jackson yelled at him, beginning to lose his temper. How dare he imply that she was not worthy enough for him to even speak her name?!
"Hasn't done anything wrong? A Luna doesn't act in the manner that she had. A Luna does not refuse to communicate with people, she does not try to off herself. She certainly doesn't mope for months!"
Jackson was disgusted and infuriated at what he was saying. He fought the need to beat the shit out of him; he clenched his fists to keep him from doing so. Jackson spoke through clenched teeth, "you did not just say that."
"Who are you to say that about her?! You know nothing about her! How dare you?!" Adrienne yelled, appalled with the words that had come out of her father's mouth.
"She was mourning the death of her daughter and you have the audacity to insult her for it?! You're out of your fucking mind!" Jackson practically screamed at him. He could feel the pinch in his palms from his claws due to fighting back the urge to snap his neck.
"That girl is not worth the time!"
"She's my mate, and I refuse to give up on her!"
"Right, you're just gonna give up on the pack instead," Father stated.
