It had been a few weeks since Lily had gotten her leg stitched up and for the most part, Jackson had kept to his word. He had left her alone. He only spoke to her to check up on how she was doing; however, Lily could feel his presence around her in passing periods and before and after school. He seemed angry all the time now, all he ever did was frown. It was permanently etched onto his face. Lily hated it. As much as she didn't want to admit it, her thought process on how this would be good for her, to finally be able to get him out of her head, was not true. She thought about him just about the same, if not more.
Her injuries had healed up for the most part. Lily had been able to take the stitches out of her leg on her own. However, the cut was still in its final stages of healing. It was difficult for her to walk on. Whenever she put any amount of pressure on it, her leg would weaken and tremble. She wasn't sure what it meant, but she was sure it wasn't a good thing. There wasn't anything she could do about it to change it at that point. There were scars where Carter had cut her and her nose was permanently a bit crooked, but other than that, things were as normal as Lily's normal could be.
Carter decided to revoke his rule that he had for his friends as further punishment, so she would understand the lesson even further. They could do anything they wanted to her now. Which was a horror for Lily. Unfortunately, she had already grown used to the pain and feelings of discomfort she felt. She had to adjust to it quickly so that it wasn't so obvious that there might have been something wrong in her life. If anyone cared.
Erin was still being a bitch. It was rare for ger recently to blame Lily for trying to steal her boyfriend from her, but she did. Other than that, she blamed Lily for anything and everything. Things going on in her life, even though they both knew it wasn't Lily's fault. She tried her best to ignore it, but it still got to her. There had been a few times where Lily wondered if Erin knew just a sliver of how Lily's life was at home, if she would still continue to harass her. Every time the thought occurred to her, she quickly realized that she wouldn't; even if she did, Erin would move on to pestering someone else. There was no point to that. No one deserved to be bullied; Lily would rather Erin continue taking frustrations out on her rather than turning to someone else. She could handle it; she'd dealt with much worse than Erin could dish out.
Lily was getting ready for the day ahead of her; getting dressed in jeans and a sweater, taking her birth control pill that she made a habit of taking every morning. She was picking up her backpack when, out of nowhere, something wrapped around her waist. Immediately, she pushed away and looked around to see that she was dealing with a man about twice her size, then ran from him. Carter might have been a complete dick, but most of the time he didn't interfere with Lily's school; if he was, he would've said something. Which told Lily that this man was no friend of her guardian and that his arrival was unknown.
She made her way downstairs as fast as she could, racing towards the front door. Before she could make it, the man, whoever he was, grabbed her and stabbed her in her bad leg, slimming her chances of getting away. Lily's legs collapsed underneath of her, and she fell to the ground. Friend of Carter's or not, he was going to have whatever way he wanted with her now, so Lily figured he might as well get it over with.
Instead of taking any of the possible actions she had been thinking he would, the man grabbed something out of his back pocket and brought it up to Lily's face. Before she could register what was going on or what he was doing, the cloth was already covering her mouth and nose. The last thing she remembered thinking before losing consciousness was, I've read enough books to know what that is.
Nikolas dragged the girls' limp body out to his SUV as if he were carrying his sleeping child. The act disgusted him, but this was all for a greater purpose. His pack would learn; they would regret overthrowing him and exiling him from his own lands. He just had to wait for the perfect timing. This girl—this human girl was the key. Finally, things were coming together. Finally, he would get his vengeance.
