"He's a werewolf. That's how he turned into that wolf. I know because I'm one. My family and my friends are too." Jackson told her. All of his attention was on her reaction, he didn't want her to start pushing him away again.
Lily was shocked by this news. Jackson was a werewolf? Her gaze never faltered as she examined his expression to see if he had been joking with her or mocking her. But he hadn't been. There was total and completely honesty in his eyes, "you're serious?" She asked in disbelief. Jackson nodded as if it was no big deal... but it was. He turned into a freaking wolf!! Just like the same one that had caused so much damage in her life. She should have been freaking out, but she wasn't. Why?
"Why am I so calm?" She questioned. It wasn't really meant for Jackson to answer, she was simply voicing her thoughts, but he responded anyway.
"Because I'm here and being in my presence is calming to you."
"I am almost always calm and more comfortable around you. More so than with anybody else. I should be freaking out or having a panic attack and running away..." she rambled on, before she realized that he knew. He knew that having him around helped her stay calm, "how do you know that? And why? Why do you have that power over me? Does this happen to everybody else when you're around?"
"No. Only you," Jackson stated, simply.
"Why? Why me?"
He was scared to admit it. Being scared was a newer feeling that Jackson resented. He never used to be scared of anything but ever since meeting Lily, it was an emotion that he felt often. Scared to hurt her, scared to mess up, scared of her being in pain, scared of being pushed away, scared of rejection. But he answered her question anyway, she deserved to know the truth.
"Because. You're my mate."
