(The picture will make sense in a few minutes)
As soon as I got to my room, I slammed to door shut. The gall of him, just saying that someone who did wrong doesn't deserve forgiveness. Well, then why did we forgive him?! For crying out loud, he'd committed as much wrong as his father did and he was walking around like he did nothing wrong and didn't even need forgiveness. I angrily started to pace back and forth, muttering to myself. Suddenly, Geo opened the door. "You," she commanded. She pointed down the hall and said, "Go apologize to Zuko." "Who are you, my mother?" I asked snidely. "No, but I am your best friend, and that's also important." "Why should I apologize to him? He deserved it!" "I'm not saying he didn't. But you started it." "What's that got to do with anything?" I snapped. "Because you love him. You guys shouldn't be fighting. There's enough fighting going on, we don't any between us." I sighed, letting my anger go, which isn't always easy. "Okay." I said once I was calm. "Good." She said. I stood up, grabbed my cloak and started to walk towards the door. "Where are you going?" she asked. "Going to find Zuko." I answered.
I stepped out into the early evening air and walked towards the thicket. The sticks and twigs hurt my feet and cool breeze blew through my hair. I heard several angry shouts as well a couple blasts of fire, a couple of curses, and several self insults. Oh boy. I thought. When I got to the cave, Zuko was angrily shouting. "Why did I do that?! I can't keep my mouth shut for five seconds! Why do I have to be so stubborn?! ARGH!" He blasted another jet of fire from his fists. I cleared my throat. He turned around and his expression softened. "You okay?" I asked. "Yeah." He lied. "Just fine." I walked down the little walkway and sat down, he sat down next to me. "Look, I just really wanted to say-" "-I really didn't mean it-" "-it wasn't my place to say that-" "-I just wanted to say I was sorry." We said at the same time. We both blushed. I regained myself and said, "It really wasn't my place to say something like that." "I was the one who started it." He said. "Okay." I said, smiling. "There's enough fighting going on right now. We don't need any more." He nodded. "It's...really crazy right now." He said. "I know." I whispered. "I don't even know why war exists." He shrugged. "I guess it's because some people think that violence is the only way to solve anything. Or it's because they're trying to prove their authority and they prove that by pounding the spark out of everyone else." He said. I remembered how the warden and his soldiers tried to pound the spark out of me at the boiling rock. And I was close to giving up too. If it wasn't for Zuko, Geo, and Sokka, I'd still be in there, probably dead. I looked down at the water. So clear, so thoughtless, effortless. Unaware of everything going on around it, not caring, just existing. I looked at Zuko. "What's going to happen to us?" I asked. "I don't know." He answered with a sigh. I took his hand again. "But we'll always have each other...right?" I asked, a little unsure. He kissed my forehead. "Of course." He whispered.
"Hey! What are you guys doing in here?! Let's get a move on!" Geo shouted. I opened my eyes and saw Zuko's pale face, black hair, and red scar. His eyes were closed and his arms were wrapped around me. I blushed. "Get up!" Geo said again. "Beat it." I muttered. "You guys better be out on the beach in ten minutes or we're leaving without you." She paused for a minute and said, "Oh by the way, you guys look adorable. When's the wedding?" "Shut up!" I said. "Zuko and Tatiana, sittin' in a tree. K-i-s-s-i-n-g! First comes love, then comes marriage-" "Shut up!" I said. Geo started giggling like a schoolgirl and ran off. "Zuko," I whispered gently. "Wake up." He groaned and opened his eyes and I was silent. Those perfect topaz spheres that were so gold and deep that I often found myself lost in them, with absolutely no direction. They say the eyes are the window to the soul, away to see someone for who they really are, no lies, no complication. His eyes did seem like a window, but a window that was shut and locked tightly and would only open for the right person. Luckily for me, I was that right person.
He looked at me and smiled. "Morning." I snuggled in close to him, not wanting to get up or let go. "G'morning." I whispered. "We stayed out all night, didn't we?" "I guess so." He chuckled. "I hope Geo doesn't get any ideas." "She will." Zuko chided. "I guess we have to get up now." I said. "I guess so." He said again. Neither of us moved. We wanted to take in this last moment before we left. Before we finished this war. As soon as we stepped out of this cave, we were at risk of not ever coming back. We wanted to avoid that risk for as long as possible and just stay where we were. We wanted that beautiful moment to last as long as possible. So we just lay there, holding each other, not letting go.
We came out onto the beach and back up to the house, walking hand in hand. We separated when we got into the hallway, letting our hands slowly slip out of the other's. I walked into my bedroom, almost in a daze, like I was floating on air. While I was packing up my things, I heard giggling coming from outside my room. I pulled the strings of my pack and walked over to the door. Outside my room was Suki, Geo, and Toph, laughing like little schoolgirls. "What, might I ask, is so amusing?" I asked slyly. "Why nothing," said Suki, stifling a giggle. "...Mrs. Zuko!" she blurted. The three of them started laughing again. I rolled my eyes and slammed the door. "Well great," I muttered. "Geo got them in on it."A.K.A, the girls at my school. Every time I go to religion class/chemistry, somebody strikes up a conversation that involves my boyfriend.
So I wrote a couple of poems yesterday and I think they're pretty good. So then I started thinking about publishing a poetry book. What do you guys think?
See you, Wafflebunnies
