The question kicked Renjun off guard, he opened his mouth then closed it again.
"No," he muttered. "Jae has no idea I'm here."
"That's good, keep it that way," said Taeyong.
Their eyes met briefly, Taeyong's carrying all the things he has left unsaid.
"So are you happy with this pretty girl?"
"Yes," Renjun closed his fists under the table.
"You don't seem like," Taeyong was watching him carefully.
"I am, it's all new I met her like yesterday. I'm not... not sure what to or how to act."
"Be less stiff around her, she's a lovely young woman. Flirt, I know you can use your charms on people," Taeyong chuckled.
"I... I'm not sure if it's... it," whispered Renjun.
"The best way to find out is to try it out. She can't take her eyes off you, trust me I've noticed," Taeyong raised his brow.
"And?" asked Renjun, it sounded offensive, he should calm down, his knuckles were almost white from squeezing.
"Have you kissed her?" asked Taeyong.
"No... not yet," Renjun felt his heartbeat speeding up.
"Why, it's a way to get to know each other, once you had been dreaming about your first kiss now it's a chance," muttered Taeyong when Renjun breathed in and out.
"I... I have kissed someone before," he muttered Taeyong's eyes widening. "She... she is a model, really beautiful, but... it didn't work out between us," he felt heat storming to his face.
"I'm sorry to hear, so if you have kissed a girl before you shouldn't be that shy now, unless your feelings for her are too strong," Taeyong was still watching him carefully, he felt like at a hearing.
"It's too early," muttered Renjun.
"Sure do it at your own peace. I'd like to see you happy not so troubled. By the way will you come to Garry's annual party, both of you are invited," Taeyong grinned.
"Sure," Renjun was staring at the table top.
A huge storm, an avalanche of poison was roaming over him, so Taeyong didn't believe him, he hasn't bought his act, that's why he wanted to see him being affectionate with Gina, to be sure, but Renjun couldn't. He couldn't cheat, he couldn't kiss someone who wasn't Jaemin, could he?
He turned towards the beach to see Gina walking up and down bathing her feet in the water, the breeze playing with her dress, her long hair.
He has been attracted to girls before, Chenle's girlfriend Daisy, another heartbreaking memory. Would he been straight if Daisy had chosen him, if Jaemin hasn't been first, the first person he kissed.
Was he bisexual, was he absolutely uncertain. Gina had Daisy's charms right, but Jaemin...
"I'll go ask my girlfriend to come," muttered Renjun jumping up walking down the beach his heart heavier with each step he made. Gina run to him smiling widely.
"The weather is so warm today maybe we could go swimming later, you can ask your father or your fiends to come," she said.
"I... I'll need to learn later, I have to graduate this year."
"I think you're too smart to worry about it," she blushed.
"Sure," he turned towards the beach bar, he was sure Taeyong was watching him as carefully as before. Not his stiff affection right? Play that game, he thought taking Gina's hand, his palm trembling.
"You're so cute when you're embarrassed," she said coming closer, his heart almost not there.
Pretend she's Jaemin, he thought leaning in closing the distance between their lips. It was wet and strange, he moved back shocked that he has actually done it when Gina smiled brighter.
"It was so cute," she said putting her arms around his neck, her hair touching his face when she moved closer catching his lips in hers while he was standing there frozen trying his best to stand it when he placed his hands on her waist to not to look too awkwardly. It was ok, not that bad actually, just lips on lips, a feeling he had been used to, yet it felt all wrong, no single butterfly in his insides. Not because she was a girl, no, just because she wasn't Jaemin, anyone who wasn't Jaemin would feel wrong touching him, he realized all to painfully when it continued.
Yet, he will get used to it, the way her lisp tasted so differently, the way a kiss was just a kiss without this extra something when he was waiting for a while till she pulled back.
"Renjun, is... was it... am I a bad kisser," she looked at him with sadness.
"No," he whispered.
"So why didn't you kiss back?"
"It's... too early for me," he said taking her hand pulling her up the beach.
He had to learn all from the beginning, as being with a girl required him to take the lead, to be the one caring not being taken care of, the one giving not being given to, right? Renjun focus Taeyong is watching, he thought desperately walking towards the bar when he wrapped his arm around Gina like Jaemin used to do to him pulling her closer. They didn't need to kiss that often, right? Just from time to time for Taeyong to be happy.
"Oh, have you seen?" Gina blushed when they reached the table.
"Yes, you're so cute together," said Taeyong turning to Renjun catching his eyes, he didn't seem convinced, actually not convinced at all.
Thank you for your brilliant support. I believe this chapter must have been a hard one. What do you think about the conversation between Renjun and Taeyong and Renjun kissing Gina just to convince his father that he's straight? What will happened next?
Also I'm so proud of the Dreamies watching the fancams from their concert, but heartbroken at the same time as they'll need to part soon when they should be a fixed unit 😭😭
