Jae began to tremble rereading the message. Was Taeyong so desperate to fight his obvious longing that he was running away again? Was it possible, that even if Jae wished his ex to get lost somewhere he didn't want him to be anywhere else, as Renjun... Yes for Junie.
As Junie, that amazing young man he has become was living proof for how big and how strong their love has been.
Jae glanced at his sleeping son, Juni's amazing face, the warm smile.
'Before you leave we need to talk, it's urgent,' he texted back.
He was waiting for the replay his heart beating like crazy, almost jumping out when when the phone lit up.
'My plane leaves at 11:54 pm, so you have time till then, come to my flat.'
'Ok,' he texted back leaning against a pillow feeling tired and exhausted, but also so so happy.
His fingers touched his lips caressing them another time when he was unable to believe they had tasted what they had longed for the most one last time. One last time, he will just ask a few questions, convince Taeyong to stay in touch with Junie. Yes it was just that one answer, why he has done it, after it him and Taeyong could finally part ways.
"Maybe you'll come up too?" asked Renjun watching Jaemin's mom and Vivian when both women shook their heads.
"It's better if you go alone, we'll bring your father to his company."
"Take care Jae," Renjun took Jae's hand squeezing it.
He was so happy despite the argument with Jaemin last night, so filled with hope as Daddy Tae and Jae had kissed. After so many years, they have finally finally kissed. He wished they could talk it out, find a way to forgive as he would do anything to see them happy again. They needed each other as much as he needed Jaemin.
"Wish me luck," he whispered leaving the car on weak legs.
He took the elevator up to their floor then used his key to open the apartment.
It was really late, so he checked the guest room to find his bag there, Dalli was sleeping under the duvet. Renjun caressed his favorite sheep then opened the door walking back to see Jaemin coming into the living room from the kitchen still wearing his pajamas, holding a cup of steaming coffee.
"Renjun?" he asked stopping.
"Yes, came back home, your mum dropped me off," said Renjun shrugging.
Jaemin's cheeks became red, he placed the coffee on the little table with trembling hands.
"She is a bad person Renjun," muttered Jaemin.
"She's in love, ok!"
"Don't defend her!" Jaemin raised his voice. "She has ruined a family!"
"Taeyong did too, but I still love him," whispered Renjun lowering his head.
A silence filled the room, hard to control, vibrating around the space, unbearable, till Jaemin came to him wrapping him into his warm arms.
"I'm sorry Renjun, I hoped you will never find out."
"Why?"
"Because it's embarrassing who she became."
"Are we embarrassing for you too?" asked Renjun.
"No we're great, we... It's different to leave a husband and a son, than two young people falling in love, starting a life together."
"Please forgive your mum," whispered Renjun placing his chin on Jaemin's shoulder.
"I can't Renjun, I can't," Jaemin was caressing his hair cuddling him closer. "I'm sorry for leaving you yesterday and running away."
"It's ok," Renjun just cuddled more into Jaemin. "But one amazing thing has happened because of the drama last night," Renjun felt the butterflies returning.
"What?" asked Jaemin.
"You would never guess," Renjun pulled back bouncing up on the tips of his toes. "They have kissed."
"Who?" asked Jaemin blankly.
"Taeyong and Jae."
"What?" Jaemin opened his mouth then closed it again.
"Yes, I asked Taeyong to come and pick me up, but both came and then Taeyong left, but before he did they kissed."
"Wow!" was all Jaemin could spit out.
"Isn't it amazing? They will date again?"
"Renjun we don't know, it's rather the heat of the moment. It's rather unlikely."
"That's what Jae said."
"See."
"No, they will date again!" Renjun raised his voice.
"There's too much against it," Jaemin sighed.
"No! Don't make me sad," whispered Renjun.
"Junie, I wish the best for your fathers, but there's really no chance that they'll get back. Adult people they... consider things twenty thousand times before making a decision not like... a teenager who just jumps into whatever he feels is right."
"You want to say I'm young and naive?" asked Renjun his chin trembling.
"No just... wanted you to not to invest too much hope into that, as you'll be crushed by reality," Jaemin was sad.
"You'll see I'm right!" said Renjun turning around.
"Junie!"
"I'm going to see if I have some missing homework don't disturb!" he shouted running to the guest room slamming the door shut.
It has never been as hard for Jae as right now to enter Taeyong's flat. The last goodbye he had practiced to his mirror reflection the whole morning, then to Ti who hissed then faced him with her tail, was finally here. The last goodbye that was making him cry, as it was 8 pm and Taeyong needed to set off for the airport soon, but Jae just left his shoes and jacket in the hall stepping inside. His hair didn't want to style today, so he just left it like that, a total mess.
He saw Taeyong's suitcase ready in the living room while his ex was cleaning the mirror clean marble floor with a rag.
Thank you so much for your brilliant support. You are the best. What do you think about Renmin's argument and Jae's decisions to speak to Taeyong? Will Taeyong leave? Are you ready to hear all the reasons behind him disappearing four years ago?
