Reconstruction (Epilogue)

The dusty road was leading through wild mountains, Renjun could imagine the humid heat outside, so he was happy they were safe from it inside the car.

"Good that you can communicate with everyone here and be the translator for me," said Jaemin leafing through the travel guidebook he has taken from the airport that was completely in Chinese.

Renjun was just on a short break in the mid of his world tour, one Daddy Tae was helping him through. Jae has started to grow roses in the garden house, as he had decided to give some wok over to Doyoung to spend more time with Taeyong, both still so deeply in love, traveling together a lot, enjoying life.

The car slowed down stopping in front of a rough gray building, a school where they were supposed to meet the children Jaemin wanted to support though his voluntary program.

"I've heard some of these children are living in an orphanage, so I decided to stay over there and help the priest who is leading it first hand," said Jaemin before leaving the car, walking out in between the kids who were stretching out their hands to greet the new guests. Renjun was sitting there for a long moment till he was able to follow his boyfriend.

Was Jaemin serious about staying over in the orphanage? Was he here only to support the children? Renjun could sense his fiancé is having something else than just a voluntary mission in mind with that trip.

"Jaemin!" he shouted, but the man just jumped between the children shaking their hands, a moment later he took a huge sunflower from a little girl who automatically cuddled to his leg like Renjun had used to do with Jae.

Renjun just kept his distance, the tropical heat was making it difficult to adjust when he was simply walking a few meters behind Jaemin who was now crouching down holding the girl's tiny hand caressing over her messy braids. Jaemin's face was glowing with such happiness Renjun needed to look away.

"Mr. Renjun!" a boy ran his way. "Mr. Renjun, did you come to help us?"

"Me and Jaemin will sponsor supplies, equipment and educational programs for this school," said Renjun keeping his distance to the boy.

He has talked to Jae and Taeyong about it before the flight last night, about his weird suspicion that Jaemin would like to adopt someone, but both advised him to speak to Jaemin about it, take his time, he was only 22, ok Jaemin was 32, he was definitely more ready to take the next step.

They were led into the school, Jaemin made a song he was singing with the children when Renjun was keeping his distance, just watching Jaemin, trying to understand how a human could look that perfect in just plain jeans, trainers and an ordinary black t-shirt, as Jaemin was too handsome to be real.

He was waiting until the official part ended, then Jaemin was asked to play piano for the children, Renjun enjoyed his performance, while his boyfriend was giving him signs to join, but he was just standing in the corner recording a video to show his love later.

Soon Jaemin was sitting on the floor playing games with the children. Renjun was more and more anxious, especially as there was the same girl cuddling to Jaemin's side when he was ruffling her messy hair, in a way Taeyong and Jae were doing to him ages ago.

Jaemin looked up giving him a sign to come, so Renjun sighed walking to him.

"Renjun can you help me to communicate with MeiNei?" asked Jaemin when the girl took his hand cuddling to it.

"Sure, I can play translator," muttered Renjun avoiding Jaemin's eyes, pretending it's all ok.

There was a hotel booked a few miles from here in the city, yet Jaemin had spoken to the pastor who had arranged two sleeping bags for them on the dining room floor. Renjun couldn't even find a position for his body as the floor was hard, he was tired and jet lagged, totally exhausted after the long day, just willing to find some proper rest. He sighed loudly punching the pillow to give it a shape.

"Junie, I know it's uncomfortable, but at least try to not to twist and turn so much," begged Jaemin with a tired voice. "We had a long day, a long flight."

"Our hotel is not far from here," said Renjun turning to face Jaemin.

"We can to do something for the children. I cancelled the booking and decided to pay the money to the orphanage," said Jaemin when Renjun's stomach made a flip, his boyfriend was really too kind to be true.

"You're too good," whispered Renjun kissing Jaemin's nose tip.

Jaemin just blushed when the door squealed, booth looked up to see the same girl coming in, wearing a long t-shirt as a night robe, cuddling a very used stuffed rabbit under her arm.

"Is something wrong?" asked Jaemin sitting up when she just watched him with big scared eyes.

"It's ok," whispered Renjun using her native language. "You can come and speak to us."

She came closer hiding her face behind the rabbit.

"I had a bad dream," she said when Renjun suddenly felt like put back in time.

"She had a bad dream," he said to Jaemin who's eyes glittered.

"She's like you," he said. "Come," Jaemin stretched his arms out lifting the blanket, she hesitated but slipped underneath it cuddling to Jaemin's side yawning loudly, her eyelids slowly falling while the rabbit was tugged under her arm.

"Isn't she sweet?" asked Jaemin turning to Renjun whose heart was beating loudly.

They stayed quiet till her steady breath filled the room.

"Jaemin do you... did you come to adopt someone?" asked Renjun sitting up, watching the rough walls of that abandoned palce.

To give someone like me a better life, he finished in his mind.
