Chapter 2

"Hey Aria." Tom smiled as I approached his front door. "Hey Tom." I smiled back. "Here let me take that," he offered, reaching for my bag. I handed it to him and watched as he took it to a spare bedroom. When he came back out he said, "some of the other boys are out back, you can go ahead and go back there if you want. We're still waiting on a few of the other boys though." He said as he pointed to the back door showing me where to go. "All right, thanks." I smiled and headed towards the back door. When I walked out I noticed there were only five people, well seven including Tom and I that were here. "Ayyye! Aria!" The boys yelled in unison. "Ayyye...my bandmates whose names I haven't been told yet." I mimicked their tone and went and stood around the small fire that was burning. They all laughed and introduced themselves. "I'm Chris, " the boy smiled and shook my hand. "Hi Chris. Glad to see I'm not the only one with a different accent." I smiled at his Irish accent and he let out a small chuckle. "I'm Casey," the boy next to him offered his hand and I took it willingly. Holy shit he's attractive. "Hey Casey." I smiled. I felt weird not introducing myself back but there would be no point, they already know my name. "I'm Barclay," the boy next to Casey said. He didn't offer his hand for me to shake, which was fine since I didn't feel like walking around in a circle shaking all the boys' hands. "I'm Charlie," the one next to him said, and last, "and I'm Reece." They all smiled. "Sweet, nice to meet you guys. I'm Aria, but apparently you guys already know that." I smiled and they all smiled back. "Whoop whoop! Everyone is here!" Tom came stumbling out the back door with two other guys at his side, one I already knew was James. Damn, he's attractive too. The three boys made their way and stood next to us at the fire. "So what were you guys talking about while I was waiting?" Tom looked around at everyone. "We had to introduce ourselves to Aria because she didn't know our names." Charlie smiled at me then looked at Tom. "I think that's a good idea, would you guys mind going around and telling everyone your name and age? Just so we can know the basics about each other?" Tom looked to see if there was anybody who objected with that idea. Nobody did. "Alright, I'll start us off. I'm Tom, and I'm twenty." He said.. "I'm Chris, I'm nineteen." he smiled. "I'm Casey, I'm nineteen." Casey said looking over at me and smirking. His voice had a hint of rasp to it that was incredibly sexy. "I'm Barclay, I'm nineteen." Barclay's voice is really soft and quiet I noticed. "I'm Charlie, I'm fourteen." Charlies eyes are the prettiest blue I have ever seen. "I'm Reece, I'm sixteen." Next was my turn. "I'm Aria, I'm nineteen." I said a little more quietly than I wanted. "Wait, you're nineteen?" James looked over at me in amazement. I nodded my head yes and said, "I know, I look like a fifteen year old." I smiled. All the boys looked at me like they didn't believe me. "Do you guys seriously not believe me?" I looked around and laughed. "No, we believe you we just thought you were younger." Tom looked over and said. The rest of the boys nodded in shock agreement. Next was James. "I'm James, I'm eighteen." He looked at everyone, and his eyes lingered a little longer on me than they did the rest of the group. And lastly, "I'm Jake, and I'm nineteen as well." He smiled, and his smile made me smile. "Sweet so now that we all know a little bit about each other, you guys wanna jam?" Tom ran inside and came out with a guitar. "Yeah alright, but what are we gonna sing?" James asked. "Well what did you sing for your arena audition?" Tom asked him. "I sang...uhh...shit, what DID I sing?" James looked around and everyone laughed. How do you forget your audition song? "You sang I Can't Make You Love Me, the Adele version." I looked over at him. "Wait, how the hell does Aria remember that but you don't?" Jake looked over and asked James. "I have no idea. How do you remember what I sang?" James looked over at me with a look that said 'you've been watching me.' It was sexy as hell. A mix between confidence and amusement. I rolled my eyes, giggled and said, "You were my favorite audition. I actually went on YouTube and downloaded your version onto my phone." I felt my face get warm with slight embarassment. Thank God it's dark out so the boys didn't notice. James smiled and gave me that same sexy look. "You wanna know something really funny?" He asked me. "What?" I replied. He pulled out his phone and started playing a song. It was Amnesia by 5 Seconds of Summer, but wait, it was me. He had MY audition on his phone too. I didn't know what to do so I just laughed. "Yeah alright, let us in on the joke." Casey interrupted. I stopped laughing to tell them, "That's my audition. We downloaded each others arena performances." I looked around and smiled letting my eyes rest on James for a second longer than I probably should have. "Well damn. I feel like Aria and James are already best friends." Tom said looking back and forth between the two of us. We both laughed and nodded. "Yup. She's my new best friend. That's how it works." James grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers then lifted our hands in the air like a fighter who just won a match. The other boys shook their heads but smiled anyway. "Ok, well I don't know that song, so we need to pick something else." Jake said, returning the topic to what we should sing. I was grateful because I didnt want the other boys to get the wrong idea about James and I. I like him, and he is sexy as hell, but I know that him and I are 'just friends' material, not couple material. We just click. In that 'automatic friends' kind of way. "Alright, what's a current song that everyone knows?" Reece finally asked. "How about Mirrors by Justin Timberlake?" Chris suggested after we all thought for a few seconds. We all agreed and Tom immediately began strumming his guitar. He started off the song and then the boys and I alternated between verses and we all sang the chorus together. James and I took turns on the high notes and we were actually sounding really good. Finally when we finished the song, we looked around and all nine of us had the same look on our face. Excitement, and realization. This is going to work. We can do this.
