Maria's POV

I was rudely awoken to Damon throwing a pillow at me and both him and Stefan standing there with an angry looks on their faces, "Good morning to you as well." I groan and rub my eyes.

"Katherine made a move, I wanna believe you have nothing to do with it. But you've been sneaking off and I know you don't have any friends here - no offence - so what have you been up to?" Damon immediately asks and I furrow my eyebrows.

"I honestly have no idea what you're talking about." I reply, I stand up from my bed and stretch my body lightly, "Well this morning she ran into Caroline at the grill... she said that if we don't give her the moonstone that she would start killing everyone in this town." Stefan spoke up and I walked over to the mirror, staring at myself in the reflection.

"What did you expect? That I'd start helping her go on her murder spree? Believe it or not I'm not with Katherine. I haven't been planning or scheming, sure we talk - but it's mostly because she's the only person I was around my whole life, I got used to her." I tell them with a shrug and my eyes drift between them.

How else was I supposed to prove myself to them?

I haven't done anything with Katherine, I haven't hid any of her plans that I knew of - besides the original vampire thing - but other than that I've been honest and I've been me.

"Fine. I just want you to know we aren't giving her this moonstone and if she continues to fight back on that, we will have no choice but to retaliate." Damon tells me and I make eye contact with him specifically, he wasn't lying, and I didn't know if it was a threat or not.

"Sure, if she plans then why can't you guys?" I say with a shrug and walk out of my room, leaving both of them there with their thoughts.

"Back so soon?" Katherine teases and I roll my eyes, "I know that you threatened my brothers."

She hums at my words, "You know I don't like when people mess up my plans Maria." She replies and I shrug, "I just wanted to let you know that they won't go down without a fight, so whatever you have planned - just know that they have something too." I tell her and she raises an eyebrow.

"And you think it's smart I know about this? Shouldn't you be on your brothers side? Forever and always type thing?" She taunts and I don't react, "Well when my family is fighting each other it only hurts me, I want all three of you just to.. move along. But that plan seems to have a lot of problems."

"The problem is Elena Gilbert. But I seemed to have put a end to that one.. last night I compelled her aunt to stab herself. She's still alive though, unfortunately, but my threat broke up Elena and Stefan for good. Your plan could work- if only Stefan could realize that I'm the one for him and not that pathetic copy of me." Katherine growls that last part and I sit there shocked, "How do you expect Stefan to love you again if all you do is hurt the people he loves? What's the point of that?" I question and she doesn't answer for a moment.

"Well.. it was nice talking to you. I'm attending a ball and I needed to start getting ready like an hour ago. Bye." Is the last thing Katherine says as she quite literally disappears.

I let out a sigh and walk out of the building, only to spot Matt walking towards the grill.

I quickly approach him and he looks almost startled.
