Chapter Nine

Britney's P.O.V

School could always wait. Right? Now what mattered was that Marissa needed our help. If she was to let her parents know that she had a mate and he was a hybrid her parents would disown her but she had to be one of the representatives. She was an only child. To find answers I would have to travel to the Great Library in London. It held old scrolls and everything wolf. Plus I was gonna need the help of one very special individual; my brother, Adam. This would be interesting. I loved my brother and seeing him after so long would be great. Accompanying me would be Dylan, Nash, Cameron and Courtney. Sure they couldn't be away from their mates for long but I was their charge so gamma instincts went into play. Duncan would come with as well. He couldn't bear to be away from Courtney. After some persuading we got Regina to tag along. We faced it. We were going to need all the man power we could get to help Marissa.

The flight to London was tiring and frustrating. Let's be real. Courtney and Duncan needed a room ASAP. Plus there was a baby crying. It was just an awful flight. To top it all of my brother didn't even come get us from the airport. We got a cab and went to the penthouse he was staying at. I told the 'pack' to wait in the lobby while I went to get him. Nothing could prepare me for what was about it happen. Naturally, I had a key and as soon as I swiped the card to open the elevator to step into the foyer. Boom!

Marissa's P.O.V

So my friends decided to go on a trip to help me. How could they help me when they were so far away. I had to sit and hear Cristal and Yasmin mope about missing Dylan and Nash, their mates. We sat in the kitchen having ice cream. Mind links couldn't work when we were so far apart. So communication was via text. They were probably still on their flight because no one was responding to my texts unless they were ignoring me. At around six o'clock I got a strange text from Britney saying 'You would not fucking believe what just happened!!' Well that was odd. I told Cristal and Yasmin that I was gonna step out. They seemed chill about it.

"Heyyyyyyyyyyy! Wanna go for a walk?" a voice said as soon as I stepped outside. It was Chris. He was dressed pretty casually. The distraction would have been nice. "Sure why not?" I replied. He looked ecstatic at me. Taking my hand in his he led me towards a path in the forest. He was grinning ear to ear. I looked at him while he led us through the forest. "Are you going to kill me?" I asked skeptically. He chuckled, "No I am a monster but I'd never hurt you. You are my life. My love. So we're almost there." I could hear the waterfall in the distance. He could see me looking a bit confused when he just stopped. "We're not going to the waterfall. Just hold on to me ok." I did what I was told. A part of me didn't want to fall for him but my heart was being pulled to him. I closed my eyes and when I opened them we were now magically sitting on a branch.

I have to admit it was a beautiful sight to behold. I could see only the forest and the clear skies. There were so many stars. I gazed in awe.

Chris' P.O.V

I went to ask her on a date and when I got there she was outside. We were mates so might as well show her a good time. Am I right or am I right? I took her to my favorite place. Here it was very magical. I knew that she'd love it. She looked shocked at the view.

"Enjoying the view?"

"Oh yeah. It really is something. You never see this in the city." Her eyes were lighting up. She looked so beautiful in this light. A stray strand of her hair was in her face. I gently brushed it off her face. "You're not as bad as you think. I'm sorry for everything I really am. You are not a monster ok."

This was cute. She was actually trying to be nice. I cupped her cheeks in my hands and was about to kiss her when she just dropped to the ground. What the freakkk. She just jumped off the branch. I followed.

'"What is wrong with you?" I could see the tears starting to well in her eyes.

"What do you mean?" I loked at her. Why was this always happening."

"God I'm such an idiot! I'm not going to fall for you Christian Collins. Do you hear me?" and she started walking away from me. Oh no. I had enough. I grapped her by the waist and pulled her to me to look into her eyes.

"You need to accept me. You have been rejecting me from day one! Day fucking one! Do you know what it feels like? I just want to be with you. To hold you and comfort you. You are fucking perfect. Why do you push me away? Why? I can't handle this anymore." She looked at me. Tears were streaming down her cheeks. I raised my hand to wipe them. She pushed me away very violently. I was getting more emotional by the minute.

"You want to know why? You really want to know why? I AM THE ONLY DAUGHTER OF A BETA! I belong to the Dalton pack. We're almost close to royalty. My parents will disown me. There is no one to take their places as representatives. My family will lose their place in the society. And all for love? For you? And before you start off about you not being special. Yes, you are my mate. You are special. I just don't know what to do. You don't know my parents. You don't know my pack. You don't know my life ok." Wow. she exploded. She really did. She was of Beta bloodlines. That's why she thought like that. It made sense now. I just couldn't. I didn't know how to go from here.

Marissa's P.O.V

I didn't exaclty have a good evening. I left Chris standing in the forest. While running away I couldn't take it anymore. I shifted and mind linked Yasmin and Cristal. They told me they'd meet me by the waterfall. I ran and ran until they had reached the waterfall and told me to come there. When I got there I was in wolf form. They pointed to a tree and behind it there was a bikini top and jean shorts. What did these bitches have planned??

"We're gonna jump from the top. You know, cliff diving." Yasmin smilled and said. Cristal looked scared but I'm sure she'd try. We amed our way to the top and then we let out Tarzan like screams and jumped. When the cold water hit me it felt amazing. I dived under and then after a while I resurfaced. "That's what we all needed." Cristal laughed. She could sense something was wrong. To tell them would have been too long. So I opened my mind to them in the link and let them see my memory. They were more than shocked. "Oh Marissa, you need to start trusting more. He goes all out for you. I won't be surprised if he cries everyday about this." Cristal looked at me.

"Well, what do you want me to do?" I asked them. Really, what was I to do? Was I to leave my family unrepresented. I was the only child. This was my duty. I had a promise to uphold. At that point in time I hoped that Britney was having more luck than I was. Think of the devil and the devil calls you.
