Chapter Six

Britney's P.O.V

I had business to discuss with the council of this pack regarding our role here. I had not met the soon to be alpha either which I did look forward to. By the time we worked out details I had missed most of the party. The Luna had brought some refreshments for us. Still, my stomach was growling. I kept praying that it would end soon and when it did I was more than happy. I looked for my pack but to no avail and to make matters worse they were blocking me in the mind link. These bitches! I didn't want to ruin their night so instead of using my alpha 'powers' I let it be. I walked around making small talk with pack members when I saw Marissa hurrying to me.

"We need to talk now!!!" She said pulling my arm and away from the FOOD! Some friend I have. "I've found my mate but there is one problem."

"Seriously? I am FAMISHED! And I need food! Secondly, how is everyone finding their mates??" I was getting angry. Never keep a girl away from food. She sucked in her teeth and looked at me. I realized she was serious so I didn't say anything further. She looked like she was about to break down. Her short frame was shaking.

"My mate, his name is Christian. He. He is a.....a hybrid. And I justtttt doooonnnttt knooowwwwwww what to do." She finished. Fuck! Her mate was a hybrid?!? They'd have nice hybrid kids. Wait what!!??? She started to sob. "It's ok! Believe me it's ok! I will figure it out. Don't let anyone know yet but he is your mate don't push yourself too hard." She nodded. Aww it pained me to see my friend crying. I hugged her and comforted her but I had no clue as to what I would do. We were a very particular pack. Hybrid-wolf relationships were always frowned upon. She may have been kicked out. But would our families really kick her out? I didn't know.

Hybrids didn't have a place in society neither did their mates. The vampires didn't want them. The wolves didn't want them. Why? I don't know! It was really complicated. And besides my family never did tell me why. We weren't allowed to mix with vampires. They left us alone. We left them alone. They had clans with a king and queen. We had packs with an alpha and luna. It was that simple. And every now and again the highest vampire family would invite my family to dinner. This was just to show that there was no bad blood between us. Pun intended. 😋

If our parents weren't understanding she's be kicked out. The chance of that happening was there or she could join this pack. There was that too but she's a high ranking member and she would have to start at whatever rank her mate was or probably stay there even though her blood is pure power. She could be cast out of this pack. So many things could go wrong. I just couldn't help but worry. When she was done crying I offered her a smile. She managed to give me a weak smile. I watched as she went to find Courtney.

I kept trying to think about ways to help her while walking to a table to get some food. I must have been way lost in my thoughts because I hit something. Hard! And I was no tree. It was a freaking person. I didn't fall though. Thank god I have good balance. That and the fact that her was holding my waist. "Pretty but clumsy" he smirked, "you should really watch where you're going there or you'll get hurt."

"Oh not as much as I'm gonna hurt you if you don't let me go.' I replied quickly.
"Haha pretty little alpha gonna hurt me??" He laughed. Oohhhh he was gonna get it. "Yupppp pretty little alpha is gonna hurt the little pup. Now get away from me." I said pushing him. It was an insult to call a grown wolf a pup. There was something with his aura. Oh yeah alphas in my family had certain gifts. We could see auras and influence them so we could influence how a person thinks and feels which was awesome. I realized that he was an alpha but I wasn't about to let him get his way. I sauntered away knowing he was mad. I'm surprised he didn't lunge at me. But whatever. I needed some food.

Marissa's P.O.V

I told Britney about my situation. I knew she would genuinely help me. I also knew she had no idea what to do but she'd find a way. She's a good alpha like that. I wasn't sure about what would happen. Things would be ok. I hope. I wondered if I should have given my folks a call or at the very least tell my mother that my mate was a Freaking hybrid. Then again she would have told my dad. And my dad would rip Christian's throat. Ahhh!! Fathers always look out for their baby girls. Would he still consider me his own. It isn't my fault the glorious moon goddess Selene decided to do this. It was an interesting turn of events however. I should have been glad I found my mate. But if he really wanted me, he'd have to work for it. Things were bound to get interesting.
