Marissa's POV
A council member rose from his seat. Age could be seen written on his face.
"With all due respect soon to be Alpha, the elders do not agree with your decision. If you are so merciful with these traitors, what does it say about your leading capabilities. Sure, both your parents come from a long line of Alphas but this clearly proves that you are in no position to rule."
The elder sat and another one shouted, "Grab the traitors and behead them." All I could think was this was it for both Chris and I. This was the end.
To my surprise before the guards could lay a finger on us the gammas had us surrounded. Courtney looked at me and smiled. Britney stalked her way to the elders and stood before them.
"Would you truly like a show of power?" she smirked.
CRACK. The elder who shouted at the guards lay dead on the ground. His neck twisted as though he were possessed.
"There you have it folks. I am not my parents. I will not be bullied by you. You are even more replaceable than me. Remember that elders. I AM THE ALPHA and I have made my proclamation. They made a mistake. It has been forgiven as they pleaded for forgiveness. Any more questions?"
They shook their heads in fear.
"Good."
The elders rose and retreated quickly out of the grand hall.
"Now, let us keep the fun and games going. To the west of the property, a great banquet has been prepared. Let us go out and feast. We promise not to bite." The King laughed. We were escorted out by the gammas and soon we joined our friends.
Chris reached down for my hand and gently held it as we were walking. I looked up at him and smiled. It was all over. They were going to let us continue our lives in Mystic Falls but I still had to make peace with my friends. It was the right thing to do.
The wolf council and vampire council were seated together which was shocking. Chris and I were about to take a seat at a table closer to the ends when Cristal and Dylan dragged us to the VIP table. The King and Queen were gracious. "So these are the people who the Alpha killed for?" their son spoke.
"Well of course, I have to protect my pack even from the elders." Britney stated sweetly.
I finally found my voice and spoke, " Neither Chris or myself ever wanted an elder to be killed for us."
"Quite frankly, I'm happy the elders fear you. They've been causing much trouble for us for a long time. We don't even drink wolf blood. It's got a bad after taste." the king laughed.
"Plus we have humans groomed to be blood bags. No coven which follows our rule is allowed to kill humans unless they are vampire hunters. We've been trying to establish friendship with the Dalton pack for decades now." the queen continued.
"Well now that we're in control, we can look into that." Cristal spoke.
Dialogue was exchanged across the table and surprisingly enough, we were included.
"We do forgive you. We understand the reason for what you did so eat your damn food." Britney spoke in my head.
"The link is back up?"
"Of course it is fool. You're a ranking member in another pack."
"Seriously?"
"Uhhh duhhhhhhhhh."
I linked Chris the new found information. Things really did work out for us. Soon after dinner music was played and everyone flooded the centre of the yard swaying gracefully with their significant others. Courtney gave both Chris and I a change of clothes.
