"Are you coming to the dinner?" I ask Jose as I prepare the cheesecake filling.
"I can't mami, I'm sorry." I give him a blank look.
"Are you serious?" I ask as I finish making the cheesecake filling. "Why aren't you coming? I can't do this without you."
"I have lots of meetings since I'm pushing back my tour dates, I have a lot of work to do." He says with a frown. "If I could be there then you know I would."
I put the bowl to the side and begin braiding my hair away from the island.
"I know." I sigh as I think of the dinner, I take off my hat and chuck it out of the kitchen, "I just didn't want to be alone knowing that things are still tense between us."
"Just remember that you are pregnant." Jose gives me a look and I roll my eyes. "No fighting, you just finished anger management classes."
"I know, I know." I have him off as I pin my hair back after braiding it.
