chapter 22

Alisha POV

With Bianca's help I was able to get a message to Alvan about my change of station in the hotel, also that I couldn't risk sneaking off to meet up with him anytime soon.  Technically I was ordered not to have any contact with the "humans"  but she wasn't so there was a loophole that I was able to use. I asked him to not leave right away either if at all possible, there could still be the need of a fast get away  if things go south .  Around here anything could happen with  any minor infraction and the threat of physical punishment was still floating around my brain. 

I don't know what kind of crimes here would make that become a reality but I feel like I just barely missed out on it once. I'm not taking that chance again. Bianca was just as surprised to hear about that too, according to her NONE of the other packs here in Spain ever did anything like that to members. I have no clue about back in the States and plan to ask my mom when I finally get to call her. 

 It ended up making her more nervous about doing anything that reeked of possible trouble for her. But she did agree to be the go between  for Alvan and I ,  she knew he would help her too if needed.

I'm more determined than I was before to help her , she was putting herself out there for me and we haven't even known each other that long.  She deserves to find her mate and be happy. Not having her wolf makes her more unsure  about the world around her. Being here and having it hidden takes a lot our of her.

We headed back to the women's quarters as quickly as possible, I just didn't want to risk any more trouble with Senora Bitch.  We didn't say much as we walked, there were too many other pack members around and as far as I was concerned they were all snitches. I saw all the side glances from male and female alike here, some were just blank expressionless faces but some look down right hostile.  Not nice people that's for sure.

Once we got into my room   , I shut the door  before we plopped down on my little cot. The unsteady thing just about tipped over and had the two of us flaying our arms like a couple of crazy birds to keep it upright . I did not want to land on that hard concrete floor, that shit would hurt. I fell out of bed one night and that floor is unforgiving. I had a nasty bruise on my hip and was sore for a couple of days. We got situated on the tiny space and I got busy updating her.

The first ten minutes I spent telling her about the interaction in the office , she didn't ask any questions until I was finished. I skipped over the earlier events up in Alvan's room, no one needs to know all my business. It just didn't seem right to share that with her, she has been waiting for her mate and I've had a couple of partners  in my life. But in my defense ,I only just found out about mates  and all that crap just a few months ago.  I liked Alvan too, he's not just a booty call for me now and I have feelings for him. I'm can't define what I'm feeling as more than "like" and I don't know if it's going to go anywhere but for now it works for me.

I wrap up my side of the conversation and indicate  I'm finished. 

"She really hates you , I knew she didn't like us but I  didn't realize how much she has it in for you. It's a good thing you are moving upstairs with me tomorrow. But that will not be an easy place either."  Her voice is cautious  "We will have to work with the upper rank pack members and they are worse than her. "

"I plan to stay under the radar  up there, just do my job and keep my head low." I reassure her "You need to do the same , but hurry up with checking out if any are your mate. The sooner we find her the better."

"It might not be possible to keep out of sight there, we will be working directly under the Alpha's son and you heard the rumors about him."  I know she is worried and from the gossip around here that we have overheard he is the worse boss to have if your a unmated female. Even the mated females aren't off limits to him and his advances.
