****15.2 - Xan****

Xan woke up early, got ready for school, and set the table before everyone came down. His mother was the first to join him.

"Good morning, my love." Hei Ran said.

"Good morning, Mama," Xan replied, hugging her.

He missed his parents a lot, and lately, they were hardly home.

"I miss you," he told her.

"And, I, you," she whispered, holding him tightly. "How's school?" she asked, letting him go.

"Good."

"And how's Vaughn?"

Xan looked at her, but she was filling her glass with orange juice. When he didn't answer, she looked at him.

"Is everything alright, Xan?"

He nodded his cheeks warming. "Vaughn's good too."

His mother smiled at him as she sat at the table and switched on the DigiScreen tuning to the News channel. Despite her not realizing he was blushing, his embarrassment grew.

Ingrid and Eun joined them a moment later, and the girls spoke excitedly about their school and volunteering. Dae Hyun came running down, jumped over the last three steps of the stairs, and hugged their mother.

 "Where's dad?" he asked.

"He came in early this morning. Let him sleep." Hei Ran informed.

"Did they find out the cause of the blast?" Eun asked, looking at the DigiScreen. The image of the Institute on fire was playing Mike Wiet's message played. He was assuring the citizens that he would find out the cause and asked people to be wary of their surroundings for a while.

"Sadly, no." their mom said, as she ate the quinoa salad Xan had taken time to remove from the packaging and placed on everyone's plates. "I believe it'll take more time."
