Chapter 11: Ash

“Must we keep her restrained?”

“Celi, you saw what happened to Jeanne. It's unpredictable what she can do.” Aldo clenched his fist. 

Iain threw down the shovel. “We finished digging.” 

“Good, let's go.”

Iain grabbed his arm. “Aldo, I know what your thinking. Judging by how Zoey made the columns, it was an accident, I'm sure of it. And if it wasn't, Alec has been twisting her mind. I get your pissed off about Jeannette, but please don't try to kill Zoey.” 

“You know it's funny,” Aldwin started. “Literally yesterday, Jeannette was saying that if Cast and I survive Alec, that she wanted to make us full time partners of her. She knew that no one is gonna want to hire us, especially Cast, so she said she wanted us working for her. She even gave us the deed yesterday. It's like she knew what was gonna happen. I might not kill Zoey but I will kill Alec.”

I frowned as we went to the back of Witch Doctor's. Jeannette had a patch of dirt, it looked like she was planning a garden. Instead it's now dug up. Carnie and Celina wrapped her now lifeless corpse up in various vines and leaves like a green mummy. We covered the hole and left stones that read Jeanette.

“Would anyone wish to speak?” Nymph commented. 

Everyone was silent when Cast came forward. 

“Jeannette Taylor was a remarkable woman, a valued friend and employer.” Cast sobbed. “When Aldo and I were… searching for jobs, everyone else laughed and slammed the doors in our faces. Not Jeannette, she could have paid us both very little. Jeannette insisted we both get paid the amount as she would a pure elemental. She taught us how to use a paintball gun, and didn't get mad that time we shot the customers. She just said ‘aim for the head next time’, that was the kind of employer she was.”

Ashlee and I joined in as Aldwin and Cast grabbed paintballs guns. We were followed by Iain, Noah and Bianca. We gave the 21 paintball gun salute.

Zoey was still unconscious but we had her wrists tied so she couldn't escape when she wakes up. 

Iain, Noah and Jace were strategizing how to take down Alec. 

“We need a plan of attack.” Iain admitted. 

“I have a plan, attack!” Jace responded. 

I went up to them.” Noah, we have a problem.”

“Medical or deadly?” Noah questioned. 

“Both, apparently Alec has been drugging Zoey. We found some weird drugs in her bloodstream. Power amplifiers and some drug I can't pronounce. Basically it's to keep her overusing her magic.” I explained. 

“Alec is drugging Zoey? That's it, I’m killing him with my bare hands.” Iain admitted. 

“Iain, your arm is broken. He'd kill you in minutes.” Noah protested. 

“Keep going Kurenai, what else?” Jace pressured. 

“Well, Zoey has the Coven's tattoo now so another possibility that Alec have the coven under his control.” I theorized. 

I left them to argue when I see Ashlee asleep next to Ran. Nymph was reading him a story, and Ashlee must have fallen asleep. I growled when I saw Zayn hugging my sister as they both slept. 

I then focused on Ran and Nymph. 

 Nymph quoted. “‘Wasn't I Real before?" asked the little Rabbit.
