Chapter 14: Danny

I clenched my sheets tightly. I keep having the strangest feeling like something was wrong. A disturbance in the force kind of feeling.

And to top it all up. I kept having this dream on repeat.

It was the Evangelines, Trey, Imogen, and Spark, drugged and unconscious. They look like they were given no mercy. However every scar had been symmetrical, not a simple ragged wound. Like very painful slash had perfect precision with dragonstone.

It then changed to my friends. They were locked like animals in a dragonstone cage plus Noah, Iain and Carnie were gone.

And the zombie horde. Nothing to do with the visions, my dreams always have ended with zombies.

I woke up and told Bianca and she agreed we had to go back. We had to go back.

“Bi, have you seen my pills? I can't find them anywhere.” I yelled.

I looked all over my cabinets, it was gone.

Bianca rubbed her eye. “Maybe you left it at Witch Doctor's?”

“No… my pills are too important. I know I had them with me at the front door.” I muttered.

I kept digging when my mom knocked on the door. “Danny, made your favorite cookies.”

“Thanks Mom, have you seen my pills?” I asked politely.

Mom gulped and shook in place. She trembled like she was about to cry before she had run out the door, leaving the cookies behind while giving an Oscar worthy scream.

“Should we be worried about her?” Bianca questioned.

I didn't respond, I just followed her into the kitchen. She had left the fridge open and grabbed one of Dad's coronas.

“Mom…” I assured her. “Give me the bottle and tell me what happened, we can talk this out.”

She had crouched down into a ball, her blonde hair instantly in ruins. Her mascara running.

“Danny please, I don't want you to see me like this.” Mom weeped.

“I won't have to, just give me the bottle and give me my pills.” I pleaded. My Dad must have gotten into her head again. “Don't make me make you, you know I can make you. You're better than this. You don't need to have a drink. I'm going to leave school soon, and I'll just be you and I. I want you to get better but this isn't gonna make you better. Will you help me make you better?”

Mom nodded and whimpered before handing me the Corona. She gasped when I popped it open and poured it down the drain, throwing the empty bottle in the garbage.

I sat next to her.

“Now that's sorted out, what happened to my pills mom?” I asked calmly. “I know you know.”

Mom wiped her mascara. “Victor was short on money so he took your pills and sold it to some strange man. He insisted that you didn't need it and he gave me some bottles last night. I'm so ashamed, I choose beer and money over my only son.”

I bear hugged her, kissing her tears away. “You made a mistake, you'll make it up, I know you will, cause you're not him.”

Speaking of the devil, my father stepped through the door, cash in hand.

“Hey Larissa, you saved me Coronas right?” Dad chuckled.

I stood up in rage. “You sold my pills and you gave mom beer?!?”

“Pfft, relax it's few beers.” Dad assured me.

“How many beers did she drink before ended up in the hospital? How many beers was it before she woke up me and told me she wanted to kill herself because you left?!? You owe Mom and I an apology.”

Dad scoffed. “She told me to leave, I didn't want to, just like I didn't force her to drink last night. I don't owe you shit.”

The effects of me being of my pills and my hero ability were taking effects. My eyes flashed white for a second.

I clenched my fist.

“Get back here on your knees like the bastard you are.” I growled.

My father was forced to take the command and got down on his knees.

“You said… you'd stop using…  your powers on me…”

“That ended when you took my pills.” I muttered without remorse. “You're going to leave here and leave all your money and your gun behind. And when you get up on your knees and apologize to mom.”

He tears in his eyes from the pain from the mind control. I didn't care, he hurt my Mother. He said sorry before he packed up, leaving thousands of dollars and a Smith & Wesson.

I hugged mom as she was left with money and a gun.

“Mom, it'll be awhile before the effects of my mind control wear off on him. He won't be happy when he comes back. Go to California, go to Paris, Edinburgh, anywhere you always wanted to go. I'll catch up with you, but I do have to go.”

Mom nodded and hugged me again. I went with Bianca to the portal in Columbus Circle. We headed over to the train station when something was wrong with the portal to Element City.

Suddenly a paper appeared.

“‘Due to mass evacuation, this and all portals are now closed until further notice.’ Well this is god damn perfect! Now what!” Bianca ranted.

“Well, there’s always ‘her’ way.” I implied.

Almost immediately, Bianca had shook me.

“Danny, I think I speak on behalf of all black women, no I think I speak on behalf of all black people in general when I say, you are the most insane white boy I ever met.” Bianca ranted.

“Well, do you have any other ideas?”

“No?”

“Then we have no choice.” I explained.

Bianca sighed. “Give me a mirror, I'll do it.”

“No… I've seen what it had done to Celina, I'd rather die before I'd get the chance to see that happen to you. I'll do it.” I demanded.

I gulped and pulled out a mirror. I risked 7 year bad luck and shattered the mirror. I pulled out the biggest shard and pulled up my sleeve. Winching in pain, I cut my wrist and bleed quite a bit.

“Forget it, she's not gonna show up.” Bianca rolled her eyes. We turned around and saw Elissa right in front of us.

“So…” Elissa paused. “Which one of you wants to make a deal?”
