It was late at night. Elena and I crept down the stairs. "Jeremy?" we said in unison, trying to flicker on the light. "This is Logan Fell coming to you live from the streets of Mystic Falls with breaking news of another deadly animal attack. The wild animal terrorizing the citizens of Mystic Falls has claimed another victim, local high school student Sundance Gilbert. Police are certain that forensic evidence will confirm that this is the same animal responsible for recent attacks."
We heard from the TV. Elena gasped and began sobbing. "You know what's coming next." A voice said coldly. We looked over and saw Damon Salvatore, beginning to run after them. Damon grabbed me and tore my neck open in front of Elena. My body dropped and Damon ran to Elena, tearing into her neck as well.
I woke up and wiped my forehead, panting. Fuck. That was bad. I walked downstairs for some water.
"Scum ball. Scum bucket." Jenna looked at the TV.
"Who are you talking to?" I asked my aunt.
"Him." Jenna pointed at the television.
"The news guy?"
"Also known as Logan "Scum" Fell. Did your mom ever tell you why I moved away from Mystic Falls?"
"Oh, no way. You and him? He's cute." Elena intercepted.
"He is not cute. There's nothing cute about him. What are you doing with that?" Elena was going through a box.
"I went yesterday and got it from the safe deposit box. Mom had told Mrs. Lockwood, she would loan it to the founder's council for their heritage display."
I sat by Elena, grabbing an object from the box of our parent's old things. "Is that grandma Beth's wedding ring?" Jenna questioned.
"Originally it was great-great-grandma Mary's wedding ring." Elena grabbed it from me. "How much do you think this stuff is worth? You know, like on eBay?" Jeremy asked.
"You're not gonna find out." Elena snapped. "That stuff is mom and dad's. You can't just give it away." I stepped in. "I'm not giving it away. It's called a loan."The doorbell rang, so Elena walked away. She didn't go back into the kitchen. "Probably Stefan," I said to Jenna. "Oh."
"I have to get ready for the Founder's Party with Elena and Bonnie tonight. Wish me luck. I'm gonna be a barbie doll."
Jeremy and I were hanging out in her room. Jeremy was laid across the bed while I was on the floor. "Why are you even going? Elena is gonna be with Stefan and we all know how much that hurts you, seeing Elena and Stefan all lovey-dovey."
"I know, but he makes her happy so, therefore, I'm happy. I'm going because of its tradition and mom used to love seeing the Gilbert girls in dresses, like dad used to love to see you all fancy in a suit and tie. It doesn't feel the same without them here." I paused the game and sat up. Jeremy sat up too. "Would they be proud of me? Am I disappointing them?" He whispered. "You are grieving, Jer. You have a reason for this. I'm sure they wouldn't like the fact you're into drugs, but it takes away your pain. And it makes you happy, like Vicki."
Jeremy nodded and laid back down. I sighed.
"Hey, Sun?"
"Yeah?"
"When you go tonight, make sure you put in a good word for me. I don't wanna go. Say I-I'm sick or something."
"I will, Jeremy."
"Thank you. I think mom and dad would be very proud of you."The doorbell rang and Jeremy and I went to the door. Elena ran after them. Jeremy opened it and saw Tyler. He tried to close it, but Tyler held it open.
"I'm here for my mom. I was supposed to pick up a box of stuff."
Lockwood explained.
"Right here. Please be careful." Elena handed him the box she went to fetch from the kitchen. "Yeah, be careful with it, dick." Jeremy snapped."Hey! Not now, okay, guys? Please?" Elena sighed. "I'm fine. He's just being a punk."
"I got your punk."
"Look, Tyler, maybe you should go. Tell your mom that I'll see her tonight."
"Okay. And hey, Sundance, I'm sorry."
"It's okay Ty," I mumbled and walked upstairs.
"Would it make a difference if I told you I actually like Vicki?" Tyler asked Jeremy. "Not even if you meant it."It was now around two hours before the Party. Three girls sat in a bedroom, preparing for our night. It was supposed to be a carefree night, full of dancing, drinks, friends, and romance but yet my head was far away from it. I was focusing on my parents, so I barely heard as the girls next to me spoke.
