After a long night, we finally separated and went home. We slept once we hit our beds, relief spreading through our veins. I felt calm. However, for the next three days, there was no sign of Stefan nor Damon.
I got ready to settle down for the night, worry spreading through my body. It's been days and no sign. I could only think of what had happened to the Salvatores'. My phone buzzed.

And so I put on my shoes and threw my hair into a bun and snuck outside. Sure enough, Stefan was on the porch. "Hold on to my hand." He said. I nodded. Stefan got up and walked over to me. My breath was caught in my throat as our fingers intertwined. "Breathe in...and here we go." He smiled sadly. We sped to the boarding house. "Stefan? What are we doing here?"
"I spiked Damon's drink with vervain, Sundance. By bringing you here, I know you'll have no choice but to listen to me." He explained. "Stefan. Where is Damon?" I asked. "He's in the basement. Sun, I won't be going to school for a while. Damon is really. I know you hugged him and you like being friends with-" "Do not assume I'm attached to him because I gave him a hug." I laughed. "I- Listen, I need you to cheer up Elena for me. I know I haven't been at school and she is definitely mad, but that's okay because I'd rather have her mad at me than dead because of Damon." "I know, Stefan. Can I see him? Please? I think I deserve to since he messed with my mind a lot." "Follow me."
Stefan led me to the basement door and I peered inside, staying a good distance away from the bars as Damon sped to the door. "Sundance. Sun, unlock the door." He begged. "I'm wearing a necklace. And no. I'm here to say goodbye. You compelled me and messed with me. You used me and my best friend for our blood and none of that is okay, Damon. So with pride, I say goodbye." "Sundance! I will- Please," he whined softly. I looked back at him. He was rude and manipulative. "I'm sorry about your past and for the guy, you were made today but I can't let you go and have you kill and abuse the people I love," I whispered and backed up.
Stefan wrapped his arms around me. "Come here. I'm gonna need support after this." He mumbled, stepping forward. Our hands were intertwined.
"Where is my ring, Stefan?" Damon questioned. "Won't be needing it anymore," Stefan answered. "How long have I been here?" "Three days." "What are you doing?" Damon questioned. "During the dark ages when a vampire's actions threatened to expose or bring harm upon the entire race, they would face judgment. They sought to reeducate them rather than to punish them." "You know what will happen if I don't...feed on blood." "You'll grow weaker and weaker. Eventually, you won't be able to move or speak. In a week your skin will desiccate, and you'll mummify. A living corpse. Unable to hurt anyone. Ever."
I cringed and shuddered. "So what, you're just going to leave me in the basement, forever?" Damon scoffed. "I've injected you with enough vervain to keep you weak. Once your circulation stops, I'll move you to the family crypt, and then in 50 years, we can reevaluate."
