I knocked on the Salvatore home. Stefan opened the door and hugged me tightly. "Sundance." He breathed out. "I can't breathe." I laughed. "Come in." Stefan opened the door wider. My heart knotted at the sight of Damon and Rose. Their heads snapped towards me. "How's your shoulder?" I asked Rose. "It stings. Bad. But I'm alright." Rose replied. "Good," I said. Damon opened his mouth. "How about a drink, Stefan?" I asked before Damon could speak. Stefan nodded and led me to the kitchen.

"So where'd you go, Sundance?" He asked. I sat on the counter and shrugged. "A hotel about 4 hours from here. I was going to go farther today but, as I said, got called back. Apparently, all hell broke loose." I sighed. "Yeah, you could say that." He laughed and looked down. He poured us some bourbon. "Where are you going to stay?" He asked. "I don't wanna go home. I...I don't know if I can handle being here...I don't know. I'll probably compel a house." I shrugged. Stefan looked down. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left. A bit dramatic on my part." I said. "No! No, it's not that. It's the fact you had to leave. It sucks you're treated this way." Stefan looked at me. I could get lost in his eyes sometimes. "I let myself be treated this way. That is what sucks..." We stared at each other for a moment. "Thank you for being here." I averted my eyes from his green ones. "Always." He replied. "Aw, how sweet." A voice said. I looked at Damon. "Can we talk, Sundance?" He asked. I nodded.

Damon and I went outside. "Sundance-" He began. "Let me talk," I said. He hesitantly nodded. "You have tossed me around like a rag doll and I let myself be treated like that. You confused me every day. One day, you couldn't get enough of me. The other day, it's Elena. Now Rose. I can't take this because every time it's someone else, my heart breaks just a little bit more. I meant what I said. I love you, Damon. I love the sarcastic, teddy bear you. Not this side. I wasn't good enough so I tried taking myself out of the equation." I rambled. "Sundance, don't you see?! This is toxic! This isn't right! But I love you too! I just-"

"If you loved me, you wouldn't hurt me!" I interrupted. He looked sad for a split second, then mad. "If you loved me, you would know that I can't stand this anymore." He said. My throat quenched. We stared at each other for a long time. I don't know how long, but it was almost like a competition over who'd be the first to say goodbye.

Damon shoved past me and into my shoulder. He was the first to leave. I stood in disbelief. A handheld my shoulder. "Sundance, what happened?" A female voice asked. I turned around to see my sister. "A failed love," I mumbled. My voice sounded hoarse. I cleared my voice. "Come on." Elena grabbed my hand and led me inside. Damon was drinking by the table. Elena shot him a glare.

We walked up to see Rose, I believe. She was in Damon's room, which only made the wound hurt more. "We don't get sick. When we die, it's fast and sudden and it's certainly not drawn out in illness." Rose said weakly. She looked horrible. "You're not gonna die," Elena said with the tone suggesting Rose was being dramatic. Rose scoffed. "Such a human thing to say." She said.

Elena looked around Damon's room. "You've never been in Damon's room before, have you?" I asked. She shook her head and picked up a book, then a picture frame that was placed down so it wasn't noticeable. "Not what you expected?" Rose said. "It's just a room with a bed. Maybe I expected there to be silk sheets." Elena chuckled. "You're lucky, you know. No one ever loves me the way you're loved." Rose looked at Elena. "I doubt that." Elena shook her head. "Trevor was my best friend. Nothing more. I spent all those years on the run from Elijah. I just never thought it was a good idea to set up roots. The whole idea of family is not exactly compatible with being a vampire." She glanced at me. "Why are you so eager to give up?" Rose finished. "We're not giving up on anything. Here." I gave her a glass of blood. "What do you call this whole deal with Elijah?" Rose asked, taking the glass. "I call it our best option." Elena shrugged. "It's your easiest option." Rose argued. "That's not fair." Elena frowned. "Do you really think that your witch friend destroyed the moonstone?" Rose cocked an eyebrow. "I spoke with Bonnie. I know that she had the help of another witch; unless you mean it's Elijah's witch, so no, I don't."
