"So why are you so involved in Elena's life?" Matt asked. "Because she has shaped me into who I am today and I don't want her to get hurt, Matt. I mean, I love her. She is my sister, after all." I replied.

"At some point, you need to have a life of your own."

"I know. I've got my permit, all I need is to finish my test and get a car. I'll be able to go to places and stuff but for now, I have to be with her. I really don't have a choice. She has her license and stuff anyway so she has to drive me around and I owe Elena a lot. Would we even be friends if it weren't for her?"

Matt sighed. "No." He mumbled. "Exactly."
We looked at Elena and Stefan. "Every question gets a vague non-answer. What is so awful that you're afraid to tell me?" Elena yelled. A man walked over to them. The man was about Stefan's height and had gray hair and a stubble beard.

"I know you. My God." He exclaimed. "I'm sorry?" Stefan furrowed his eyebrows. "I know you. How can it be?"
Stefan cleared his throat. "I think you have the wrong person, sir." He grabbed Elena's waist. "You haven't aged a day." The man gasped. "I'm sorry. Excuse me. Hey, can we...can I take you home and we can talk about it? Is that ok?" Stefan walked to the door. Elena called me over. "Bye Matt." She smiled.

Elena walked outside, while I went to Stefan. "Who was that?"
"Um, I don't know. But he knew me. Somehow." He replied. I frowned. "Oh. How was your date?"

"Awkward. She hates me."
"She'll come around, Stefan. But you have to be more open with her." I looked at him. "Okay. I promise."
"Pinky promise?"
"I pinky promise." Stefan laughed. We intertwined pinkies. I drove home with Elena, who was quiet. I put my hands in my lap. "Hey, Elena? I love you. Okay? You and Stefan will be okay." I promised. Elena smiled at this and looked back at the road. "I love you too, Sun."

Elena ran to her room as soon as they parked the car, leaving me outside.
My phone chimed yet again.

I watched the typing symbol and giggled at his message "Well you found out Ms. Sunshine."

He told me about his plan to make Elena and himself dinner and tell her all about him except for his whole vampire thing. He wanted to be normal and I respected him for it. I promised to discreetly send Elena downstairs for him and then leave them alone, but I would, of course, eavesdrop for a bit.

I went inside and waited for Stefan's text to let him in and then send her down, which appeared about an hour later.

"You okay?" I asked my sister. Elena sighed. "Yeah. Why aren't you with some friends or something?"
"Because I don't have any." I laughed. "Why don't you go grab some food?"

Elena nodded and got up. I led her downstairs and then walked back slowly while Elena went inside the kitchen. I sat on the middle step so I wasn't visible but could still hear. "Stefan? What are you doing here?" She asked curiously.
