After an awkward confrontation with Elena, Damon dragged Sundance over to his car.
"Here: Pick a disc. We're going to the Grill." Damon opened his glove box, which was full of discs for his radio. "Woah," Sundance mumbled. Damon watched as she shuffled through some. "Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller, Dean Martin, AC/DC, Journey...Damn, Damon. You have taste!" She slipped a 'mix' disc. The first song was Bon Jovi's "You Give Love A Bad Name"
"Oo!" Damon turned it up and pulled out of the driveway. Sundance and Damon sang their way to the Grill. Damon was dancing and Sundance was laughing. Sundance would act as if she was playing a guitar and Damon had a "microphone" but really it was his comb.
Sundance ended up in a duet with Damon.
"Paint your smile on your lips!" He 'sang' loudly.
"Blood red nails on your fingertips..." She continued.
"A school boy's dream, you act so shy!" Damon looked at Sundance. "Your very first kiss was your first kiss goodbye."For a moment, it seemed like the lyrics weren't just lyrics. Sundance's heart fluttered.
They both yelled. "WOAHHHHH YOU'RE A LOADED GUN!"
"WOAHHH, THERE'S NOWHERE TO RUN." Sundance looked at Damon. "NO ONE CAN SAVE ME, THE DAMAGE IS DONE."Sundance laughed as he turned it down. Their laughter died down and he looked over at the girl. "You have pipes." He complimented. "Thanks, Damon. I would say the same to you, but you were a bit pitchy." She smirked. He put his hand over his chest. "Ow! Damn, give me an ice pack for that next burn, why don't ya?" He laughed.
"We'll see." She shrugged. He pulled into the Grill and unbuckled his seatbelt, then walked around and opened the door for Sundance. She got out and followed him inside to a table by Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood. "Act normal." He mouthed. She nodded.
Matt walked over to their table. "What can I get ya, Sun, and...?"
"None of your concern. Water." Damon replied. "Sprite. Thank you, Matt." Sundance smiled. He nodded and walked away. "He's one of my best friends. Chill, Damon."
Sundance sighed and looked around. She locked eyes with Seth. He waved her over. "I'll be back." Sundance sighed.
"Hi." She smiled. "Hey, Sun." He wrapped his arms around her. She stiffened. He cleared his throat and let go. "Who is that?" He looked at Damon. "A friend. Who is that?" She looked at a girl with brown hair and blue eyes, waving over Seth. "A friend." He replied. "I gotta bounce." He grabbed his jacket. "Yeah. Bye." She walked away before he could reply.
"Awkward," Damon whispered with a smirk. "An ex?" He questioned. "An ex-best friend." She flipped through the menu to avoid eye contact. "Oh," Damon observed her. She was tense. He lowered her menu. "What happened?" He asked.
And so she explained the whole party thing and everything after that. "...I know he didn't really do anything, but he never treated me like that and it was scary. I'm already a tad bit sensitive. He scared me." She ended. Damon's blood boiled. "What a dick!" He exclaimed. She knew he had no room to talk, but was thankful for his pity just this once. It meant she was something to him.
She nodded. "Can we go now? We're late for the Halloween party. Let's go." Mr. Lockwood said. "So go ahead. I'd like to finish my drink." Mrs. Lockwood said bitterly. The Mayor walked away and left. Damon slipped into the booth Mrs. Lockwood was in. He waved Sundance over after he introduced himself.
"I've met you before. Aren't you Caroline Forbes' boyfriend?" Mrs. Lockwood said to Damon. "Ah, she had a schoolgirl crush on me but...It was cute but I had to let her down easy." Damon put his arm around Sundance and gave her a look to just go with it. "It's Damon, right?" Mrs. Lockwood asked. "Ah, you remember?" Damon said, flattered. "Well, you have a face that's hard to forget. What's your last name, Damon?"
